Andreas canyon is a must, a short 1.5 mile hike (approx) but with beautiful streams and elevation and the California palms, you will enjoy the stillness and calm and peace. Sit near the streams at the end of the loop near the palms and remember these are 1000
Year old palm trees, you will enjoy the moment.
Palm canyon is a must do hike as well, through rocks and cactii…
We got lucky and saw a snake while hiking the Andreas …harmless ones mostly

Kein Massentourismus!

A beautiful oasis! This is an easy 1 mile loop. Great for any level and an excellent experience for children. You start with open desert and wind your way over a bridge and along a street with large palms that provide lots of shade.

It’s a good 2-3 hours time spend if you are in Palm Springs. Great picture opportunities.

Early morning is the best time as it gets really hot and not much of sun shade. Parking is plenty and take a lot of water.

Excellent oasis in the desert be sure to arrive early for a number of reasons! For reasons being that earlier the fresher the weather! Secondly is that it’ll give you ample time to discover the many trails and water areas available since Indian canyons includes: Andreas canyon, Palm canyon, and Murray canyon! Beautiful scenic area so bring best camera available for animals, plants, rock formations and views! Animals right off parking lot can see frogs, lizards lots of species, plants, water, and insects like dragon flys and butterflies! Be weary of snakes off path but in trail you should be able to see them just keep eyes open and your oakie dokie

This can be an expensive outing for a family. Especially if you’re just going to do a short hike on one of the popular trails. Admission is $12.50 per adult and $6.00 per child 12 and under. On the other hand, if you live nearby and intend to hike here frequently, an annual pass is well worth the investment of $90.
There are dozens of diverse trails of varying length and difficulty. The less popular ones are often the most beautiful and solitary. Be adventurous. There’s a lot to explore and discover.
My favorite trails are:
West Fork North Loop Trail
Indian Potrero Loop Trail
Murray Canyon Trail to Seven Falls

If you enjoy nature, and want to learn about native American history, you should visit and take a fun hike. Murray Canyon is spectacular.

A very impessive experience. We did the shortest hike through Andreas Canyon. It looked and felt like the scenery from jurassic park. It was so beautiful and interesting to see how nature finds it‘s way even in such a hostile environment.

Wow! Truly an amazing place. The pictures don’t do it justice. It feels like a cathedral made of giant palms and rock. One of the most amazing places I’ve ever seen.

I definitely recommend visiting early in the day- not because the trails are long or difficult but because it gets unbelievably HOT and some trails have no shade. Definitely recommend you do the Palm Canyon and Andreas Canyon loops- both are scenic and easy.
You may be wondering why I only rated Indian Canyons 3 stars. The reason is because nearly all the workers I interacted with (including a park ranger) were unfriendly- I will give a shout out to the maintenance workers though, didn’t interact with them but I saw them working hard cleaning up Palm Tree debris at the Palm Canyon area.
On one trail someone placed a dirty diaper in the middle of the trail- gross.

Also worth mentioning- there is no visitors center here. The only place to buy water is at the Trading Post in the park- we didn’t see any water bottle refill stations.

All in all- yes I recommend this place for the natural beauty. Would I return? Most likely not. Why? Because of the workers that I interacted with.

Keep in mind there is a fee of $12 per person to enter this park- there are discounts available for students, seniors, children, military, etc.

Andreas Canyon is a lovely one hour loop hike that's mostly shaded. It's home to the world’s second-largest California Fan Palm oasis. We all loved it so much. We went early in the morning (around 9: 30am in April) which was perfect. Cost was $12 per adult which we paid at the ranger station. They accepted a credit card. Great for kids. Love seeing all this water in the desert. Just watch for rattle snakes. We didn't see any but other hikers told us they had seen one. I would go again. It really was so amazing!

A great outing for both enthusiasts and more casual walkers. Roads, trails, and signage are much like a national park. Trails are variously rated from relatively easy to tougher ones. It’s best to get there at the 0800 opening because, by mid-morning, it gets fairly hot – at least in April when we were there. (It’s hard to image afternoons especially in May and June. It is not even open July, August, and September.)
Trails are well-rated – from modest walks with some ups-and-down to hikes with more challenging terrain. Footing ranges from soft sand to bare rock.
A couple of the easier options also provide a fair amount of shade from big old palm trees along the streams.
Fees are reasonable – less than most national parks:
Adults: $12
Seniors 62+: $7
Students (with ID) : $7
Children 6-12: $6
Military: free with ID
(Given how they were treated by pioneers and others through the years, it seems like it’s perfectly appropriate for them to have some return on the limited land they were forced to live on.)
They have ranger talks October-June, Friday thru Sunday:
10 am: leaves from the Trading Post and goes through the Palm Canyon 1.5 hours
1 pm: leaves from Andreas parking and does the Andreas loop 1.5 hours

This park is protected and there is an entry fee, but you get are beautiful vistas of the Coachella Valley, rugged mountains, evidence of nature's forces that will take your breathe away. There is one year-round creek that sustains a fantastic botanical scene where you can hike through palm groves and enjoy a picnic. From there you can walk up trails that take you to spectacular views. In another part there is evidence of tectonic activity.have ever seen the earth turned on its side? What about turned on its side and covered with cacti that cling off the vertical formations? When you go be sure to have plenty of drinking water. You won't regret your visit.

Nice family-friendly hike, totally worth the entrance fee. My three-year-old walked for part of the way, but mostly rode in our hiking carrier. Great view and an hour well-spent.

Hiked the West Fork North Trail (Streneous) It's best to access the West Fork North Trail from the West
the East Fork. Came in March and saw brilliant field of wild flowers, teddy bear cholla and agave along the scenic trail, This stunning view into canyon. Bring lots of water and use wear hiking boots because of rocks.

Definitely a place worth visiting if you are in the area. There are many hiking trails ranging in distance and difficulty and the scenery is amazing. The price is reasonable and overall it's a really nice experience

Amazing place - well worth a visit if in Palm Springs. Only suggested improvement would be more signs for the trails, difficult to find the start points.
