Great atmosphere and the staff! Espresso was OK, not great, but that is entirely subjective so I would still recommend checking it out.

Been coming here since they opened back in 2009 and was one of my favorites but after Covid is just not the same anymore used to have very good responsive baristas, that’s no longer the case it looks like they lost lots of competent n experienced personnel - also if you charge 6$ for a cappuccino you can certainly afford to provide very low cost masks to people who don’t have one!

Best iced mocha in Los Angeles hands down. Not too sweet, not too bitter - just right, and made properly! Espresso mixed w/ chocolate, then milk added on top of ice. I wish they had bigger sizes! Staff is always friendly and quick, plenty of seating inside. Good vibes.

Love Intelligentsia and this outpost in particular. Intimidating if you don’t know what’s up, but I’m a fan of their coffee and pastries ️

Actual fleas from dogs on 'patio'. They never spray it down. Several bites several times until I realized what was happening. It needs a daily hose with all the dogs, I've never seen it not ones. Sit there an hr you'll see.

Great coffee in an alley looking space. We had cappuccino and latte and both were top quality. I highly recommend this place

Pretty good coffee, although not as good as nearby Blue Bottle IMO. The latte at Intelligentsia is excellent, however their Americano typically has a sour taste and is definitely not one of my favorites and a simple Starbucks Americano wins out over what they serve. Prices are high, which is to be expected in that area. I would come back for their latte, but prefer going to Blue Bottle, provided their line is not too long.

It used to be so packed with people but worth the effort of grabbing a seat. Staff are all super friendly and knowledgeable, not to mention being helpful with choosing menu. Great taste. Love their beans as well. The small selection of baked goods and light meals also are well-curated.

I write for a music and coffee blog called Crooners In Coffeeshops, in which I interview local musicians at local coffeeshops. My writeup reflects the positive experience that I encountered at Intelligentsia on our interview date.

If you’ve adventured around the Los Angeles coffeeshop circuit (or scrolled through the internet looking for a coffee subscription), you would notice that a fair amount of them serve the Chicago-born Intelligentsia Coffee. Well, did you know that they also have a few of their coffee bars nestled around L. A? Probably not. But boy, were we in for a treat when we set up shop at the Venice Beach location. And not just because we were blessed with the presence of many a cute dog while sitting down doing our interview.

Intelligentsia’s Venice Beach location is perfectly placed on the ever popular Abbot Kinney Boulevard along the path of many, many shops and close enough to walk to the beach after enjoying one of their freshly roasted brews and a can’t resist pastries. Its atmosphere very much appeals to the beach-y hipster that lives in the area with its modern industrial interior and rustic chic exterior. Couples, besties, shoppers, surfers, and more swarm to this spacious location to fill up their caffeine tank before their respective activities or decide to spend some time lounging there if they are lucky enough to get a seat.

I recently moved into the neighborhood from New York and was looking for "that" place: a local cafe to frequent that has a friendly and comfortable vibe, a variety of hot and cold coffee and tea drinks to choose from, boasts an enticing menu of delicious bites and pastries, and is priced fairly. In short: I found it!

So the two gentleman who waited on me, were lovely. The oat milk cappuccino was delicious! But it was $6.90 because of the oat milk, because the oak milk was extra and not posted anywhere. They had virtually no breakfast treats (I wanted the vegan carrot cake, couldn't really eat any of the other options) and the closest public bathroom was the gas station. So good, but could've been better.

One of my personal favorites! Their chai is to die for, hot or iced. I usually spoil myself and get a dopio macchiato and the chai AND a pastry.
