Island Breeze Jamaican Cuisine reviews
21Just walked out the door and had to write a review. The lady at the counter was so rude. Why do they have someone with an attitude taking orders.
We love the meat pies, jerk chicken, ox tail, curry goat.and the rice/beans. So good highly recommend this place. We definitely will be back. The cooks are in the back singing just makes you feel like you are at the fams (family) place. Just the energy love and effort that goes into this place. 10 out of 10.
This place has the best Caribbean food. It's a very nice atmosphere, family owned, friendly staff. The true feel, and taste of Jamaica in California I highly suggest them to all great customer service, delicious excellent food.
Ordered the tilapia fish plate, was good & a decent price, first time eating here was a good experience, except the girl in front taking orders seem to.have an attitude.other than that was good
Food is good. Staff is friendly and energetic. Their daily lunch special is a good value. (For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of GOD is eternal life through Christ JESUS our Lord)
Drive right by the strip mall this place was in but caught a glimpse of their name. We did a u turn as soon as my passenger told me he had never tires Jamaican food before.
This place did not disappoint! Hilarious staff, huge portions and a taste that flooded me with some memories.
In the pic is oxtail and plantains. Solid choice with fall off the bone meat.
This is my go-to spot for Ox tails. I forgot to take a picture because it was too good to wait, but here's a picture of a Beef Patty, which are pretty good as well. You can even call ahead and place a phone order to save some time.
I have been coming here for at least 10 years. The food has been consistently good. The staff is friendly. Excellent Jamaican food.
The food is good but the young lady at the door is very rude her customer service sucks and also the other young lady who works with her she was rude to every customer in the line because she was ready to go home her and the other young lady with the braids she’s kind of a thin girl I don’t wanna say skinny but her. Other than that the food is worth the drive
I have been here several times. However, this time I was very disappointed. I ordered oxtails and they were very tough. Also it was only puck up outside and they were rushing. It was a Friday maybe a busy day but consistency is everything.
Been wanting to try this place for months, I called for the first time ever to place an order and this mean woman answers the phone.she was upset because I didn't know how to order from their menu, I explained it was my first time but she kept giving me attitude. I never finished placing my order because she was soo rude. Will never give this place my money.
We got The brown stew chicken (steamed veggies & beans and rice) & the Jamaican Fried Chicken & steamed veggies & festival bread it all was so good definitely going again
I ordered oxtail plate with rice and peas. No vegetables no plantains included in the meal so I had to get an oder of plantains separately and when I oen up the plate the plantains are hard as a rock not sweet and soft like every Jamaican restaurant in NYC but hard. Coming from NYC and wanting a plate to remind me of home was a bad experience and for 25 dollars it'd not worth it at all.
Wow! I don’t typically leave a post unless my experience was either great or god awful! As you can see from the rating my experience was awful! Haven’t tasted the food yet as I’m just leaving the establishment (telephone order) but the service and attitude I received from the cashier was horrible. She kept making faces as though my questions bothered her. Needless to say this is my first visit and it’s normal to ask a couple questions here and there. I asked if the fish was fried because it looked like it and she replied “ I don’t know I’m the cashier”. I replied “ ok, I thought you would know something about the product “. She gave me a look clearly annoyed then says “ it’s baked” with complete confidence. I thought you didn’t know? Either or I won’t be back. Customer service is paramount.
If you don't allow people inside your establishment due to COVID fright, please don't have a maskless plaque ridden mouth laughing and shouting un-neccessarily over customer's take out food
I got the lunch special! The quantity was really good as per the price. However, I would have preferred a little bit more sauce, found the food to be a bit dry. Overall, pretty good food, pretty spicy too ️
Customer service:
I called in with a phone order. Lady was nice but in the middle of my order she began talking to another individual as well. She was a little sassy, but no big deal. Phone order in, and im on my way! Once I arrive, oh that attitude presents itself. Body language was as if I was bothering her. I went to pay and it took me a moment to figure out my pay method (I use my card, cash, or phone). As I was doing this you hear a *sigh* from the cashier. Professionalism is out of sight, out of mind. If it were a line behind me I would get the frustration to some extent, but there was just another gentleman and I (who was still scanning through the menu). I did decide to dine in. While dining there another lady did come in which I see lightened the mood in the restaurant. She was very unprofessional, but fun, loud, and cheerful. She made the experience interesting, in a good, and a bad way. She was flirtatious with customers, and very open. Again, interesting. Overall did not care to much for the service. I personally like professionalism. I also really enjoy family restaurants that make you feel invited into their establishment. This was neither. They were definitely giving off more corner store vibes.sheesh.
Food:
Garbage! Good flavors that's it! My food was NOT fresh. Can tell it been put together and maybe warmed in a microwave. The food temperature was uneven. Some parts of my curry was cold, some parts extremely hot. Very disappointed, Jamaican food seems so difficult for me to find out here. Grew up in a Jamaican household so I have expectations, but I don't think wanting my meal to be evenly warmed is a high one! Did not finish my meal. I took home my left overs. When I arrived home my stomach began to kill me! I spent the not so better half of my night in the little girls room. I really felt like I wasted $26. It is, what it is though. I can only speak my truth, unfortunately my experience was not a good one. I will not return, and I do not recommend. My experience may have just been a bad one but bad enough for me personally not try again!
I really enjoyed the curry goat but the customer service is extremely bad. Even tried to order online a few times to avoid the rudeness but they are always outta whatever you order online. I finally just learned how to make it myself, its really freaking easy.
My type of place for a quick meal pick up good customer service pick up your foot sit back get your belly full go to sleep this is the place that can do all that
I wish could give a ZERO. I ordered chicken curry through Doordash. I arrived at the time of pick up. I was told they didn't see my order and they didn't have any chicken curry. After 5 minutes then they said they saw my name what a waste of my time and money booooooooooo. Don't have chicken curry on your menu, if don't HAVE chicken curry. Extremely unprofessional and I will never go back there.
