Island Park Campground reviews
14Great park. Gorgeous view from our site. There are off road trails and a pretty beach just down the hill, and the bathroom facilities are simple but clean (they had one shower in the one i went into). We went in December and the park was nearly empty. There are fire rings as well, and the site we were in was huge! Some of the sites are pretty unlevel, but ours was fine. The campground is also dog friendly as long as they are leashed. Just a note, There are some sharp turns to get to the park that might be difficult to navigate if you have a bigger rig/rv, but we made it fine with our 35ft camper. Well definitely be going back.
We were there in late September. It was really hot during the day and trees offered almost no shade. We parked the car on top of the hill so the breeze made the night sleep possible. As opposed to many other camps in California at least has a shower, so that's a big plus.
If you're European and going first time to an American campground you're most likely be disappointed. And bring some kind of bucket to wash the dishes in.
Great we had a blast the lake was awesome and so was avacado lake which was only 12min away. Rangers and staff where very kind and nice ppl. Would definitely do it again
Water and electric hookups. Nothing else. No phone service either. Water access was very far from camping sure sure to receding shore lines but still fun place to get away from it all.
We have a 40ft class A motorhome. It was a precarious road to the campground with sharp narrow turns but once headed down there was no option to turn around.so down we went.very carefully. Our space is on the upper loop and though it is large enough for our RV.the access made it almost impossible to park. Beautiful park.but I don't recommend it for large RV's. Dump station is awkward for large rigs as well.
Our family really enjoyed the daytime hours there, but the night time was miserable. The campers up the hill were not respectful of other campers at all. The Rangers walked through before quiet time and left and that is when all hell broke loose. The campers walked through the campground yelling. The music and yelling went on until 2: 00 a.m. Both Friday and Saturday night. Rangers were informed of the issue but did not return the second night after quiet time to observe the situation.
Not much of a camper, the spots with the water, sewer, and electricity is the way to go! Only concern were rattlesnakes, didn't see any thankfully, but I'm sure they are there. Take sunblock and mosquito repellent! Lots of mosquito repellent.
Its beautiful there is not much to do you could get in the lake unless you walked down a steep hill, no where to fish unless you have a boat
Visited on my cross country road trip from New Jersey in October. Clean facilities and beautiful views. Hands down the best campground I have stayed at.
Nice quite for the weekend no issues, fellows campers were freindly
Park Ranger was nice ran call with him before
Great campground close to Fresno, very clean and well kept, only downside is the cell reception is pretty terrible.
The walk.was easy to the lake and absolutely beautiful. Bathroom was always clean and stocked with toilet paper
Nice park. Had some issues finding a spot we would fit in but the rangers where very helpful. Also not the parks fault but smoke from the wildfire and low lake level made it a bit less fun.
Labor day weekend 2021. We had a great weekend despite the high temps. It was nice being by the lake to cool off. Our original camp site offered no shade but after talking with the park ranger, they kindly let us move to another shadier spot. It was perfect. Hung up our hammocks in the shade and it made for a very relaxing long weekend. Will definitely come back in the future! Just a few things that I know might bother some: from some sites it can be quite a walk to the water, noise does carry in the campground so for those who go to bed early expect noise, quiet hours are after 10 pm but there was definitely some noisy campers after then, some sites are not shaded at all so be wary of that.
