This place is a nightmare to apply. The onsite property manager asked for bizarre & intrusive income documentation that don't follow HUD, State & City regulations or guidelines. And this was AFTER she said I had the apartment. The application process took over a month. And, she attempted to keep my holding deposit. I'm happy to resume my housing search after this awful experience.

Management staff here have been really great very helpful when I did have a problem. The rent is really very fair price according to market value and there is a whole lot of renovation going on both inside and outside of the complex it'll make living here a more pleasant experience for everyone. These apartments are located in East Village and sometimes outside the complex there might be an occasional issue or two but no more so than anywhere else in East Village. Whenever I've had a service issue they've been very prompt and resolved it and that's a great experience for anyone no matter where you rent and I would have to say their maintenance crew does go above and beyond the call when it comes to taking care of our complex if you're looking for an economical place to live or a permanent place to live whatever your needs may be the studio apartments are pretty neat utility free and air conditioned with hookups for cable and internet I've lived here for 5 years and overall it hasn't been a bad experience at all.

It's a shame that your review rate is only 2-2.5 but I can understand. Most of these are a few years back. When I first moved in I was not iimpresed. Main thing was the roaches in apt and hallways. First thought that came to mind was Joe's Apt But seriously 5hey took care of that (not a one now) Crime, drugs, homeless is everywhere. Zombie land soo️

I was helping a disabled friend find a place to live. He gets a rental subsidy substantially lower than section 8. The unit available was renting for $1130. Once I got there with my friend to he gave Kira the manager the deposit. While signing paperwork at end noticed the apartment rent was $1411. Kira said that’s because he has rental assistance. Kira even called the rental assistance agency to verify he would be getting this. My friends only income is SSI for $934. The rental subsidy has other clients that recently rented there for the $1130. When we asked for the deposit back early next morning we were told it’s non refundable. This is horrible treatment of a disabled person with limited income. Using his subsidy he would have had on $34 left for food, landline etc.shame On Island Village.

Well Island Village is not a easy property to manage so I'm going to look at this complex as a diverse group of people who can be trying at times for the management.

Overall I see that they try their best with the resources that they have the apartments are more in the line of a hotel room type design.

You have clean people and you have dirty people I'm very fortunate I don't have or have I had a bed bug problem or roach problem whatsoever and their maintenance staff and custodial services departments work extremely hard on keeping these buildings clean and safe.

The management team are sometimes overwhelmed with some trying residents but I now see that they are trying to calm people down which works out like baptizing a cat it's not pleasant but they do try the best they can.

There are better places and there are worse places but make it the best way you can and you will make your own place with it by having a good attitude about seeing this as a starting point into something better or different in your needs.

My needs are being filled and I've adapted into the situation to the best of my abilities.
