Islands Restaurant Mission Valley reviews
16The bartender was amazing. Constantly one soda ahead of me waiting.food was excellent, service great.
Service was off, but I do understand that staffing is difficult right now. The fish was very over cooked, and the server just said that is how it always is. The French fries were very small in size, and looked and tasted like it was from the bottom of wherever they put them, and I got the very bottom of the pan. The burger was just OK, and I was hoping for something better. Islands used to be one of my old go to lunch places back when I worked, but it seems that the quality has gone down hill since then. Just not a good experience.

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
LOVE AT FIRST BITE
I RECOMMEND
SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT BY KIND PEOPLE.
This place hasn't changed. Good backup plan but I really wanted Primos (which closed apparently).
Loved the Hawaiian digs … staff was courteous and quick. Took care of us really nice.
I loved the burgers.
Always enjoy Islands. I was disappointed when they closed the Clairemont site. MV was on my way home.
Islands: "Fine burgers and drinks. "
I dare say not.
I'm not even going to touch on the service (it was severely lacking, at best).
I wasted $50 on two burgers that could've been bested by Jack in The Box's Buttery Jack. I wish I was kidding.
It's obvious that the patties are not seasoned and little thought or effort is put into the burgers. I ordered the Hula - Swiss and sautéed mushrooms, lettuce, tomato and mayo. My burger was lukewarm and the mushrooms ontop were ice cold. Takes special talent to do that. Each bite was ruined by cold mushiness. There was no mayo. The burger was as a whole, completely dry and tasteless. I also ordered a side of the "cheese fries".
Think, day old fast food fries that you nuked in a futile attempt to pep them up. Completely dry and stale. They were (what I could only guess to be) thrown into a microwave with some shredded cheese then brought out. Missing the scallions and, "housemade chili" that might've at least added some flavor.
As a whole I'd skip the "Island" and go to whatever fast food burger joint you prefer; even In-N-Out would be a better option with it's 50/50 chance of the runs.
Save your money and time.
The atmosphere is nice. Casual, not too loud at least during the off-peak hours that I was there. The tortilla soup was pretty good, reminded me somewhat of Colorado green chili. Truffle fries were quite tasty as well. The chicken bowl with hoisen sauce is good, and is also available with teriyaki sauce, which I appreciate being able to choose. Everything seemed nice and clean, and parking was pretty easy.
Excellent service! We ordered through their app and picked up with curbside and the employee who helped us (I think his name may have been Josh?) was amazing and went above and beyond. Definitely recommend ordering from here. All the employees wear masks.
I enjoyed eating there. Servers were great taking our orders. Food was delicious. If you're into sports many games were playing. Great time.
Burgers and fries are delicious! Great customer service. Everyone was so pleasant. Our first time eating here, definitely not our last!
Dependable burger fare as well as lots of options for healthy minded eaters. Beer selection is good with a few hard seltzer options as well.
We had Islands restaurants in Arizona that were always a big part of my childhood. So when I saw this one next to our hotel I just knew we had to go. But we wanted to-go because we had just drove all day. Here's the problem- this did not travel well. The staff didn't punch out the vent holes in our containers which meant the fries got soggy.
The flavors were spot on and reminded me of one of my favorite childhood spots. But order this one in restaurant, folks. It does not travel well.
The food we ordered is what was delivered to the table. Our order didn't take very long between issue and delivery to the table. The table was clean but the salt and pepper stuff wasn't. The staff was super cool and very polite. I'm not impressed with the quality of the food in relation to the price; it was not a good value. I won't ever being going back.
Islands has great service, good food, a bar, reasonable prices, and cool surfing and stunt skiing videos that make for a nice getaway meal. Easy, free parking.
