Jack & Giulio's Italian Restaurant reviews
20One of our favorites in San Diego! Food and service are always great! We come for the Panzerotti, a dish we have not find elsewhere. Ricotta cheesecake is excellent too! They could decorate the place a bit more to create some ambiance, but it wouldn't change much.
Do not waste your time or money! Horrible Italian food! Our spaghetti overcooked and luke warm. Meat sauce flavorless. Scampi and pesto luke warm and no flavor. The shrimp was FLAVORLESS! Tacky interior decor. Our waiter was friendly and attentive but he has nothing to work with coming out of that kitchen. I believe only the unsuspecting venture in. I just don’t know who writes their glowing reviews? $160.00 for two, no alcohol…Had the food merely been served hot perhaps I would not have written this. But I still would have given it a 2.5 out of 10.
Got in right at opening. The meal was phenomenal, as was the service. Prices and portion size are great
I should have just walked away. Clue number one: when I approached the restaurant was dark. I almost did not go in. If the man had not opened the door, I would have left. Clue number two. Inside were just a few people. The server was surly to say the least. The service was about the same. I ordered Chicken Marsala. It was the worst I have ever had. My brother makes a better Chicken Marsala. It came with some anemic green beans. My husband had the shrimp bisque and an Isulata. Both of which were just average.
So so service. There were 2 large parties so we were basically ignored and seated at the very cold front window spot. The food was good
4.5 over two visits. Food was great both times. Fairly quick and very attentive service. European flair easily came through. Music on first visit had live keyboard/soloist. Nice music bit too loud for good table conversation and not even remotely Italian so it wrecked the ambiance/atmosphere of the place. Second time was great since we had a large group in the back room and the music was not live, was more Italian, and was "background" atmosphere. Perfect!
Where do I start? !? ! This place! Sadly disappointing! So we went on our 1 year anniversary & this restaurant was a recommendation! I had the scampi alla Giulio it’s Basically breaded shrimp for 30$ plus dollars! Unbelievable then it comes with a pasta that looks like it came out of a can! Then my husband ordered fettuccine with meatballs he said it tasted like the frozen package of fettuccine you get from Trader Joe’s! I had a margarita which was bland! …. 100.00$$$$$$ down the drain! Save your money & maybe go to Olive Garden! This place is a sick joke! Sorry just sorry!
Best authentic Italian Restaurant in Old Town.
We found this gem accidently because the other Italian Restaurant across the street would not service us with a simple Spaghetti Bolognese. We walked one block and found the Northern Italy inspired food.
The seafood pasta is a premium highly recommended dish. Yum.
Stephanie - great customer service. Our glasses were always full. She checked on us throughout the meal.
Live music is awesome - Trio of musicians playing smooth jazz.
Bar is amazing. Lot's of drinks, something for everyone. The Limoncello Martini is delicious - smooth sweet lemon taste with the Martini flare.
We enjoyed Spaghetti Bolognese, fresh parmesan grated cheese, beautiful yummy mixed green salad, and bruschetta with tomatoes.
Overall. Delicious.
Fine dining at its best. My 4th restaurant of the area and by far my favorite. All the food was fantastic. Get the lemon drop martini! Waitress was super sweet.
Food and staff are incredible. If your looking for a nice date night or just looking to eat some amazing food, this is your place. Best Italian food I have ever had and will be coming back for sure when we are in the area.
Nothing like freshly made pasta and bread. The place could use a remodel, but the staff is friendly and the food is great. Consistently great food. Not the best wine list, but the food is fresh and absolutely delicious.
Long day, plane screw up, needed to relax. Beautiful outdoor patio in front of building. Good variety on menu. The food i had eas great - a big salad and Chicken Piccata. Wine list small but good. Great and respectful service, worthy of a good tip.
Wonderful looking place. The staff were great. The food was pretty good. If you know Southern Italian cuisine specifically with pastas, you’ll get what you expect here. It may NOT blow you away, but it is pretty good quality! If I could give a more specific rating I’d go mayb
Perfect way to spend a summer evening. Outdoor seating on the patio with lovely music.
Food and service were excellent!
The best authentic Italian food in San Diego, possibly the west coast. The Shrimp Scampi will change your life. Live music on Wednesdays and cool ocean breezes.
The fettuccine alfredo (with chicken) was stellar - in particular the pasta itself had a fresh, made-in-house vibe to it that most Italian restaurants can't match. The veal Valdostana was carefully prepared and singularly tasty. All in all a very strong showing from the kitchen. The wait staff was professional and affable. The bar however did not keep up the high standards. The bar tender was not on duty (on a Saturday night? !) and our waitress made our cocktails. She was enthusiastic and eager to please, but let's just say more experience behind bar would have been a big help.
Outstanding service that goes above and beyond. Everything on the menu is truly delicious, you will want dessert even if you are full!
Quite literally the best food I have ever eaten. The tortellini Verdi left me speechless. The mushrooms melted in my mouth and my soul left my body. Our waiter Sergio was also quite a treat. We will be back tomorrow for dinner.
Jack and Giulio's holds has been our special place for our anniversary celebrations and just great Itialian cuisine. Giulio is the the best chef ever. Tonight we celebrated our 48th anniversary with take out from here. My wife's favorite, scampi Ala Giulio was great as usual and my veal valdastano was superb. Looking forward to being able to dine in again. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would. Ottimo cibo.
Excellent food. Best alfredo I've ever had. The ship was cooked to perfection. The meatballs were the right ratio of cooked but not dry. The wait staff was friendly, courteous, and tentative. Would definitely recommend.
