Jay's Southern Cafe reviews
15Perhaps the best BBQ I've ever had. The brisket cut with a fork, the wings were unreal, and the pork melted in my mouth. Fantastic experience!
I have never had a bad meal here. Nor a bad experience! Always greeted with a smile and polite chit chat! If your feeling good bbq and great atmosphere this is the place!
Some of the best Southern food I have had. The brisket was tender, flavorful and plenty of it. My sides included the collard greens and potato salad. DELICOUS! My husband had the fried fish special (unlimited fish) which was delicately breaded, seasoned to perfection, and fried perfectly. He also had two sides: collards and the sweet potatoes. DELICIOUS. All was made from scratch and with great skill. We are looking forward to stopping there again.
Great food and the hands up they are the very best southern comfort food in the area! The pulled pork is my favorite, but everything that I have tried is excellent!
Very very delicious! I got the pulled pork frys! Drove all the way up to alpine to find a little local restaurant and we found Jay's! Thank you for great local BBQ!
I visited yesterday with the family and was so impressed I returned to day. I m so disappointed that I live in Chicago not Alpine! I WILL visit every chance I can.
Great bark on the ribs and the BBQ sauce had the perfect amount of spice. Service was great as well! Highly recommended! Go support this local business!
I forgot i ordered the pull pork.i was jones on the greens.was straight ca baked.it took me to the days i ran the pits for the jones brothers.
My husband and I went to Jays for lunch the moment I walked in the BBQ smoke got me so hungry I had the pulled pork spicy BBQ sauce with coleslaw and my husband had the shrimp po boy with their fresh fries. Oh man did it hit the spot! If you haven't been there go immediately lol fast friendly service we will definitely be back.
This restaurant is truly family owned and operated. The service is outstanding and the atmosphere was enjoyable. The real money here is the food, oh boy will you be in for a treat. Easily the main reason I will return to Alpine!
We were passing through Alpine visiting accounts for work and we stopped to get some lunch. So happy we did! Jay and his son greeted us with a smile and took our order. Come to find out the rest of the family was in the kitchen working on the deliciousness. Highly recommend the brisket, beans, chicken strips, and THE POTATO SALAD. Bomb! If you’re like me and a big fan of sauces ask for all of them with your chicken strips. The spicy bbq, regular bbq, honey mustard, and ranch are homemade and dayyummm you can tell. Cooking and serving with a passion. I can’t wait to go back!
Jay's is a family owned business, where great care is taken to craft delicious, high quality Louisiana-style southern barbeque. The staff are down to earth and friendly. The eating area is relaxed and has a hole-in-the-wall feel and is kept clean. The food. Oh man. Everything here is delicious. We got a good selection of the food, and nothing was disappointing. Smoked to perfection and accompanied by homemade BBQ sauce and great sides, we all left wanting more, but incapable of eating more.
Loved my meal. It was well worth the drive and my Husband and I will be coming back. Food was well seasoned but not too salty. The meat on the ribs was nice and tender and definitely not dependent on the sauce to be delicious!
Friendly owners and staff, reasonable prices, and by far the best food in Alpine. I'm from the south and their food brings back memories. Amazing sides, in particular the candied yams and mac are divine.
Tastiest Lunch I have had in a while. Quality is outstanding and prices are very reasonable!
