Jessica Adeleke, DO - Sharp Rees-Stealy Otay Ranch

Textbook doctor, literally. She basically goes down the flowsheet of questions and the system
tells her what tests to order or what to prescribe… but usually that's all most people need so I
didn’t really have a problem with it.
Back in July 2023 I dislocated my shoulder, and Dr. A was unable to see me so I saw her PA
instead, which I don’t have a problem with. The PA’s tone and body language made it obvious
she thought I was lying when I said I reduced (put back in place, I had to explain the word to
her as well) it myself. I also could tell she thought I was lying when she didn’t ask any of the
right questions or examine the right places for a dislocation. When I tried to tell her more about
it she wasn’t listening so I gave up since she was sending me to physical therapy anyway and
from my time as an ortho nurse (I’m an ER nurse now) I know PT’s know what they are doing
and can answer my questions better anyway.
The physical therapist had no problem believing me after asking the right questions and doing
the right exam, and told me it usually takes 20 weeks to recover enough to go back to work. He
said he was sending Dr. Adeleke a recommendation to give me 8 weeks off of work/disability
time for now so we can re-evaluate my progress.
When I messaged Dr. A for the work/disability paperwork because my work needs
documentation to make sure shifts are covered, she messaged back that she thought 8 weeks
was ‘excessive’ and she was giving me 2 weeks. I politely messaged back that I found that to
be insulting (it was obvious by this that she believed I was lying and managed to fool the
physical therapist into giving me a free vacation or something), and I would be happy to come
in for her to actually examine me or even speak to her on the phone so she could hear how the
injury and reduction occurred. Her response was a message that she was referring me to ortho
and that perhaps I should find another PCP. I tried apologizing for politely telling her I was
insulted once I saw how touchy she was to feedback but she shut down and refused to answer
any of my messages from that point on. That was the last I heard from her. Mature.
Subsequently, a few days after my MRI posted showing not only the hallmark cyst and lesion of
a shoulder dislocation but 2 tears in my rotator cuff muscles and a ruptured bicep head; all of my
messages from her disappeared and were replaced with a “placeholder” in Follow my Health.
What does she think I’m going to do? This review is about as vengeful as I get.
She is always going to be in high demand because of the location she is in, and I wish her well.
My advice is to please examine or at least speak to your patients in the future before you decide
they are lying.

Dr. Adeleke was so caring and informative. She discussed my issue with me thoroughly. I appreciate her advice and her referral.

Dr. Adeleke is super professional and takes immediate action to take care your problems. She wants you to stay atop of your responsibility in following your health care instructions as well.

I had a great experience with Dr. Adeleke! She is kind and very easy to talk to. I look forward to continuing seeing her as my primary!

Checked in 10 min prior to my appointment and sat in the waiting area for 30 minutes before the medical assistant came out to tell me they were going to cancel my appointment because I was 18 minutes late. I wasn’t late. I was early. Apparently someone didn’t do my check in correctly so now the doctor didn’t have time for me. After realizing it was their mistake, they brought me back and had me change in the exam room where I sat for another 15 minutes waiting for the doctor. I got dressed and let them know I didn’t have time to sit around all morning, please order my labs and forget it. I understand mistakes happen. Sharp is usually decent but what a horrible experience. 2 stars because she agreed to order my lab work.

We are so lucky to have Dr. Adeleke as our physician. She listens, is caring and knowledgeable.

A doctor who is a wonderful listener and genuinely cares for patients. Responded to my emails quickly. Nice to have a female doctor.

Probably one of the best or the best provider at the Otay Ranch site. She has helped me through some problems and is always ready and willing to listen and help when needed. Worth the wait to see her since I know she is very busy.

Dr. Adeleke is the best! She is very thorough, and I never feel rushed. At the end of my appointment I feel she has covered my current issue and also provides excellent teaching for preventive measures. It’s always a pleasure with her at my visits!
