211/05/23: this is my second time in this store in past two months. Last time here, an older lady, skinny, glasses, took about 5 minutes to finally half-hearted greet me from a distance of 10-15 ft after judging my appearance that I may not be able to afford JV clothing. I walked out and bought something at AllSaints. This time, same old gal, approached me while looking down at her cellphone, “let me know if you need anything. ” She didn’t have the decency to at least look up, greet and ask if I was looking for anything specific. Now, back story, John Varvatos is no longer the designer or associated with the brand as he’s moved on after years of millions in debt, losing multi-million dollar lawsuit. I walked around the store looking at leather coats and she never walked over to see if I needed a size, etc. Either she’s a VERY judgmental person who decides how to proceed with you based on how you look (I’m a white male, 40s), or just rather look at the news feeds on her phone…my money is her being incompetent. Took my $$ to AllSaints again where the young, (20-something’s) actually do a great job greeting customers and attentive. Skip JV and hit up AllSaints. Note: I chose not to post a photo of the old, skinny, glasses wearing gal as not to look at her face again.

My dear friend had an awesome leather coat on and I asked him where he got it from. He took me to John Varvatos to see their selection.
I was a little nervous because I am a little chubby and most fashion stores don't accommodate 2 or 3x clothing, but I figured it was worth checking it out.
Rahel was super friendly and was eager for me to see his collection. He brought out 3 coats, 3 different styles, all 3 definitely looked my style. He has a good eye for style and made me really really want 2 of the 3. Only thing that stopped me was my honey tummy. I need to work on my winny the pooh belly. They fit, but for this kind of investment I need to shed 10.
I absolutely love the coats here, and will be back!
