Johnny Foley's Irish House reviews
21We were staying at the Hilton Union Square and were looking at something close to enjoy a few beers. We stumbled across Johnny Foleys Irish Bar and ended up having a great time and met some great people from the USA. We’re from Melbourne Australia. Thanks for the hospitality and great times
Some of the best Fish 'n Chips I have eaten. Great food, service and vibe to the place. I always try to visit whenever I am in town.
Food was awesome, and the staff stellar. They are so happy to be open again. Best fries I've ever had. YOU NEED THESE FRIES!
Delighted this favorite haunt has managed to reopen in these strange times and is doing everything right.
Health screened and plenty of sanitizing evident made me feel safe immediately and it wasn’t long before I was reunited with my old friend - Cottage Pie:) delicious as ever. My friend enjoyed their cocktail special - the sanitizer, $8 was a bargain for this blend of mescal and beets and raved about the fish and chips afterwards.
Overall a great indoor dining experience, fantastic food and service while managing social distancing and constantly sanitizing. Well done to all involved!
Fish and chips were very good but way way way overpriced. They set prices high here for hungry tourists so I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who can find a far less expensive neighborhood alternative. If you are a tourist and are on foot in this neighborhood then it's good and probably priced about the same as other places (they will all drain your accounts).
Attentive, authentic staff serving drunk food in a classic Irish pub environment. The wall is adorned with a huge picture if Johnny Foley and they even have coasters with his jovial face on it. Overall a very nice place. Will definitely return in the future if I find myself in the area.
Food and service was first class, toilets were clean just a small thing paper bin could be emptied more often. Has a great atmosphere
Disappointed experience tonight with Piano Singers. Very commercial attitude loudly refusing to sing songs when tipped less than $20! While people pay cover to get in here.
Great spot. Food is excellent, atmosphere is authentic. $20 for a double gin and club. Definitely a little pricey, but worth it for a once in a while treat.
One of the best meals I've had in San Francisco. The steak sandwich is just what it sounds like, cooked medium rare, and excellent. Also had the cod croquettes which were delicious.
A great bar with very friendly and helpful staff. We had a lovely meal and then some drinks listening to some good live music. It was so good we came back again the next night. The bar staff were brilliant.
Enjoyed a tasty cottage pie along w an soda bread appetizer. Pleasant and attentive service. Nice decor. Slightly pricey.but sure, you’re at San Francisco’s Union Square. That’s par for the course. No escaping it.
I would go again anytime I’m in the area.
Fantastic beer selection. Food is good too. Stooped by this place a couple of times and really enjoyed it.
Good food but noisy. Friday night means a lot of groups celebrating the end of the week, and why not! We had a superb meal but could hardly hear ourselves speak but still had a good time. Quick service too. Nice Irish hospitality but be prepared to talk loudly to other parties with you.
Food and atmosphere was great! But it’s a little bit noisy here, so for those who want somewhere to chat, here might not be the best choice.
We arrive at 9pm and waited for 15 minutes to get the table.
Had a great night at the bar. The guys working there are very cool. I did not eat. But the food does look good. Will try to get back to try.
Fish and chips were awesome here! But very loud so if you want to smash pints and yell this is the place but if you wanna chill and eat it's definitely not
Place was hopping. Good live music. Good food and attentive service. Good cocktails and beer list. Worth a visit if you're in area.
Lovely places to eat. Very good atmosphere and decor. Waiting staff were a little try-hard for their tip.
Nice traditional style pub with live music. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Try the Irish soda bread pudding, just awesome.
