It was very snowy mid December which made it very cool! The cave was smaller than I had hoped but there was definitely ice in the cave. There were a few icicles but the most interesting part in my opinion, were the icicles that looked like they were coming from the floor/rocks. Not sure what they are called but they wee very cool looking.

I ventured down to where the ice sheet formed but did not dare to go any further. It looked like a death slide down into the depths. The cave itself was maybe 100ft deep.

Nice little road side attraction, especially in the falling snow.

No cellphone reception with T-Mobile and I had to use 4x4 to get to the cave. Would not attempt without 4x4 or way to reach someone. I always carry my Garmin Inreach, which can also be spotty.

Great place to cool off and to see an entrance to a lava tube. The lava tube is very short, just enough to see some ice and to get out of the hot sun, so if you are looking for a longer adventure, this might not be your choice.

HIDDEN GEM. We were just passing through (or trying to) and noticed the sign for it. It’s just a stones throw from where you park and super easy to get down into a bit. We didn’t explore deep but the entrance had lots of cool icecicles and was definitely freezing compared to the 80 it was outside. Stop here if you are driving by.
