Soyoung is one of the nicest ladies I have ever met. I showed her a couple of reference photos for my hair cut and she gave me exactly what I asked for!

Great cut and does not take long. Been coming here on and off for over a year. Will absolutely be back.

The only joyful thing is the hair stylist. Her personality is great, but her work is mediocre at best. Twice my wife has had her hair dyed here - both times with very different colors. Both times she stained everything she touched for weeks.

Pillows, clothes, her own skin, etc. Everything. The prices here are low but I guess you get what you pay for. Maybe her other work is good but avoid coming here if you want to dye your hair.

I’m mixed and have very healthy hair with about 4 curl patterns from 2C to 3C. I walked in with my hair unwashed and therefore undetangled. When I took my bonnet off Soyoung said “oh” in a very disappointed tone. As soon as I sat down, Soyoung immediately went in with a wooden paddle brush ripping through my hair. Then when I told her that is not how you detangle curly hair she handed me the brush to detangle my own hair dry. At this point I was very upset but I still decided to go through with the appointment because I really needed my hair straightened. I noticed she was not sanitizing her equipment after each client, and while she was washing my hair she left me at the wash bowl to go give a cut to a man who just walked in with no appointment. Then after she was done she walked back to me and I asked her to please wash her hands to which she responded “don’t worry don’t worry” completely disregarding me. While she was blow drying my hair she was so rough running her fingers through my hair and even scratching my scalp with hair nails, she also didn’t completely dry my hair. Once she began straightening my hair, she was ripping through it my separating the sections and ripping through my ends while straightening. She, for the second time, stopped to do cut guy who was a walk in (I know this because both men said they were first times and both asked “can you take a walk in”) I felt extremely hurt and disrespected as I’ve NEVER been treated like this during a service especially not one that costs $350. While she was straightening my hair, she kept burning my scalp. She also straightened pieces of my hair that were still damp to where you can HEAR it sizzling/crackling. When I looked down at my cape a literally saw my broken ends on it, she proceeded to say “that’s not real breakage don’t worry” so what is it then ma’am? Fake breakage? I clearly see my broken hair that you snapped off on the cape. During this entire process, she kept making very rude and questionably racist comments about my hair type and how my hair will be “much better now” after the treatment (as if my hair was completely unruly and unmanageable which it wasn’t). During this time a third man walked in and she gestured and told him to go to the wash bowl but he ignored her (finally someone with class) and waited for my appointment to be over. For the second shampoo again, she was scraping her nails against my scalp, and again very roughly blow dried my hair. Overall, this was, without a doubt, the worst salon experience I have ever had (and I’ve been to at least 100 stylist of all backgrounds). I would highly suggest if you’re someone with Afro/ extremely curly hair to avoid this salon unless you want your hair fried, ripped, your scalp burned, and the worst service imaginable.

Soyoung did an amazing job. She was able to fit me in her schedule. Super friendly and gave me the hair style I wanted. I highly recommend.

Nice lady, but she doesn't know how to color or cut hair. Went in for a caramel balayage with lighter ends and a a line haircut with curtain bangs. Ended up blond with uneven bangs and not a a line hair cut. Lesson learned now I'm spending more money to get everything fixed. For someone that has never dyed her hair before this was a horrible experience.

My Niece and Myself had a girls day yesterday. And decided to try Joyful Hair Salon. Soyoung is absolutely amazing! She was very kind and gentle. And totally fulfilled our every need. She did an excellent job on our hair. We both will most definitely be going back to Soyoung again!

I have visited numerous hair salons, yet none of them have been able to replicate/fulfill my specific requests to my satisfaction. However, my experience at Joyful Hair Salon has been exceptional such as their welcoming atmosphere and their upkeep.

I called requesting an appointment for a perm, and Soyoung was able to fit me in 2 days later. Before she started I let her know that I was a little nervous, and she addressed all my concerns. She did such a great job on my hair! I’m so happy with it! I will definitely be coming back.

This is a really nice salon and I would recommend and this is the place that did my hair as the way I want it and 소영 (Soyeong) did a great job on my hair. The price isn't that bad either, I would def recommend it and will come again.

I always do my hair with Soyoung and it grows fast. I’ve tried other places and it just won’t do. Price is not that cheap but I think it’s worth it. I definitely recommend her.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! WALK AWAY BETTER YET RUN AWAY. I never thought I would have to check someone's credentials, but I really feel like someone should. When a customer that's going thru hairloss goes to get a haircut, DO NOT make them feel worse about the quality of hair they have. Tattooing your scalp WONT FIX IT and it WILL NOT LOOK BETTER so don't give advice on something you know nothing about.

Great place for men’s perm. Soyung is very kind and detailed in her work and I’m very pleased with the results!

I called a bunch of places to do a Korean perm for my son, and finally found Soyoung at Joyful Hair Salon. I was so glad, because it saved me a trip to Los Angeles. He was very pleased with the outcome; and so was I, that a week later I decided to get one myself. I called Soyoung again and had her cut my hair into mid-length layers, then to give me a Korean perm. I'm glad she asks for exactly what I want, and she works pretty quick too! I've never had someone cut my hair so quickly! She's so kind too, and makes me feel welcome.
