Joyride Pizza, Mission District reviews
16Is it oily and pricey? Yes, but I'm going for Detroit style pizza in SF, what would you expect? This pizza was terrific and a whole pizza can easily be had for 2 meals, making a $20-$25 pizza $10-$12 per meal. Solid place and will be back again
The price just doubled. $16/slice with tax
However, a slice here is enough food for a meal so take that into consideration.
Can't believe it took me this long to try this place, but I'm glad I finally did! The ingredients were quality and paired together well, especially the Green Goddess! It had some of the fattest ricotta cheese chunks I've ever seen on a pizza, and it tasted great with the pesto and black olives. I would love to try more when I'm in the area, even though it's definitely more on the pricey side for pizza. It IS very good, though.so it might be worth it from time to time.
It would have been nice to order a pizza but the veggie options do not exist on the kiosk except as slices and the staff’s command of English was insufficient to facilitate ordering
This place is selling overpriced bread with some tomato sauce and a little bit of cheese on top. As I was eating the pizza, I thought, “this is nothing more than some warm bread. ” Unfortunately for us, they are charging $10 for it.
Pizza is SO SALTY and mid.
We felt like we’ve consumed our weekly sodium intake after a slice. Definitely not worth $38
The sweet Bianca pizza slice was delicious - but like others have mentioned it’s extremely greasy and oily. $14 for a slice was also quite steep, although it’s more like 2 small slices. Would come again if in the area
Detroit-styled pizza served in San Francisco. Delicious slabs of pie being offered for delivery. Detroit-style usually consist of a rectangular pan pizza with sauce and brick cheese. This combination usually results in a crispy/chewy crust with a heavy drizzle of sauce on top. They’ve nailed it. The garlic knots slap too. It’s a definite must try for any pizza lover.
I started coming here when I moved into the area about a couple of years ago. Did management change in the past 6 mos.or so? The slices are smaller and the staff, from the morning shift looks like they should be working in an auto shop or some place where you're not required to smile and shtty services is acceptable. I got my slices around 11 am and so far I've gone to the bathroom 4 times. I felt like the slices they sold me were from the previous night. Something tasted unusual too like one of the ingridients was expired/stale. Shame on the morning crew for taking the joy out my ride this morning.
L appreciate the burnt crust and fluffy bread texture, but the Zoe Ronni pizza I tried was sooo oily, rich, and salty that it was just not enjoyable to eat (and not even for health reasons, i eat cakes every day lol)
I got a slice of Pestoriffic and it tasted AMAZING.
I could tell that the red sauce is also great.
The pizzas are a bit oily though.
Ordering the Smokin’ Hot Mother Clucker Detroit pizza from Joyride as a to-go option turned out to be a stroke of luck! When we arrived for pick-up, the pizza was hot out of the oven – talk about perfect timing!
The BBQ chicken paired with Bone Suckin’ BBQ sauce, mushrooms, red onion, pepperoncini, mozzarella, and brick cheese created an explosive flavor combo. The crispy-yet-soft Detroit-style crust provided the perfect canvas for this culinary masterpiece. Although the sauce could've been a bit more balanced, the overall experience was fantastic.
Wanted to love it. It’s so pretty and smells delicious when you walk by. But every time the pizza looks 10x better than it tastes. For $20/slice it’s bland af
Just stumbled upon it on my way down Valencia to another restaurant, but couldn't help to stop in once I saw all the pizza in the window. It did not disappoint. The Meatzza, garlic knots, and Garden Goddess (?) were all amazing. My only critique is that the dough has a very cake-like crumb which just sucks the moisture from your mouth, I love my deep dish to have just a bit more bounce, but it still wouldn't discourage me from going back again. Definitely recommend!
Im from the Detroit Area, so the bar for me is going to be high right out the gate. The pizza at Joy Ride is very esthetically pleasing for a social media post but im not sure it’s worth the photo. One slice of pizza will cost you over 12 dollars, its cut in two halves but in my opinion that’s still pricey. I got the veggie slice and it just was ok. There was nothing special about it except the roasted tomatoes.
Everything else about it was just aight. Maybe the next I ll try a different type of pie or try to catch them when the pizzas come straight out of the oven.
The tomatoes sauce was authentic but instead of the the normal way of spreading the sauce on the crust then spreading the cheese over they instead make cheese bread and throw a dollop of sauce in the center so the cheese is melted but the sauce was luke warm.sauce under cheese not over. 500 degrees for about 20 minutes. 15 in the pan 5 direct heat.i prefer a evenly heated slice.also one slice is only during happy hour
