My father Inlaw was in kaiser for pneumonia and congestive heart failure. Getting the nurse and doctor on the phone is almost impossible and getting a call back? Now thats impossible!

Had my acl surgery here and has been a great experience. Their system is beyond comparison to any other hospital. They go beyond their work the surgeon called me the next day explaining everything and answering all the questions I had. Highly recommend

If you’re considering Kaiser as an HMO for your healthcare needs, let me explain the reality of care especially in surgical and emergency situations.

First—My parent had a knee replacement surgery which was successful by their accounts because the goal is to have them walking with walkers immediately after while on painkillers so the physical therapists sign off and sends the patient home next day. The Orthopedic surgeon, Dr Patel has a medical degree from Harvard which truly means he’ll have little time for direct patient communication. Communication with him was in fact completely controlled and extremely limited. Do not expect a personal call from the surgeon ever regardless of the attempts and messages left with the appointment line. And yes, I say “appointment line” because as a patient you are not even given the numbers to reach anyone in his office for pre, during, or post care. We sent messages on the Kaiser app, left messages at the appointment number, and even went online to find his office number to no avail. Yet, did find he had time for recent chats with other members of the medical community regarding approach to procedures. However, as a patient trying to ask questions about post-care or follow-up to the rare appointment, don’t expect anything.

Second—Post Care. Let’s face it —this is where the rubber hits the road and the spinal taps of painkillers wear off and you’re dealing with reality. The patient receives no at-home nursing care follow-up and a few physical therapy visits while on prescribed painkillers. The patient’s body is in a state of transition during this period and there is no help except calling a 24/7 nurse advice line that is really an appointment line. So you spill your guts to the appointment person (wondering why HIPPA doesn’t apply here) before ever speaking to a nurse. Many moons later—you find yourself recounting the patients post-surgery needs and symptoms again to who you believe is a nurse only to tell you to just take them to ER or Urgent Care. That is the only advice we received from them on several occasions when we were lucky enough to reach them.

Third—While staying at the hospital after admittance, nursing staffs were lean and inconsistent…definitely a rotating door and nurses aren’t afraid to let you know they are short staffed or travel nurses. An internist visited once a day. I was visiting from 11A to 7P and never saw the doctor and a nurse only showed up when I buzzed the room 4 hours later.

A very sad quality of care. I hope these physicians and administrators receive the same type of care for their loved ones and get a taste of their own medicine but doubt it as they probably do PPOs instead elsewhere.

I got the best care at Kaiser. The Doctors are truly caring and the quality of care is top notch. Try them and you will be happy. My friends joined and never been happier with their healthcare!

This review is solely for the emergency room. I was woken up in the middle of the night by severe sinus pressure and pain, caused by a sinus infection. I checked in at 2: 10am and I am still waiting and it is 5: 12am at the time of writing. Have been in terrible pain this entire time. I never write reviews but I am so upset I just wanted to warn anyone about coming to the er at this location

-Update
Just saw the doctor at 5: 39 told her I had a sinus infection and needed amoxicillin and she verified thats what it was and said she will get the paperwork for my prescription. Took 5 minutes from when I talked to her but I was waiting 3 and a half hours in pain for something that could have been solved in 5 minutes smh

If you want to die, you go to Kaiser! Worst hospital I have ever encountered. So far they have almost killed 4 people I now. Currently in ED advocating for a friend who has returned again in 2 days with severe pain, nausea, dizziness, and a lot more going on they wanted him to sit in his car for 3 hours while they let others into the lobby, misdiagnosed him, again, didnt do the needed tests and tried to send him home again! His last doctor sent him home with NO test complaining of chest pain and said it was gas! He almost died! Stay away from Kaiser!

This hospital just saved a family member's life, literally. The ER, Hospital, DOU, everything was fantastic. The care my family member received was exceptional! Not only was everyone we encountered professional and well-trained, they were friendly, courteous, funny, happy people. This is a gold-standard for what care should be everywhere! Thank you thank you thank you to all the doctors, nurses, therapists and all the other staff!

I was encouraged to get a lab done for my toddler at this location because results came same-day. It was a blood test and the nurses were cold and bruised my daughter pretty badly. Don’t come here with children for labs. My local Kaiser on Barranca did a much better job and were really caring—singing and playing to ease my daughter’s anxiety and stress during the blood draw.

SECURITY STAFF AT EMERGENCY DEPT NOT VERY PROFESSIONAL. NO EXCUSE FOR PROFILING INDIVIDUALS. VERY OBVIOUS. NO EXCUSE FOR THIS BEHAVIOR. PLAIN & SIMPLE - THE SECURITY STAFF LACKS THE PROPER TRAINING. NOT A GOOD REPRESENTATION FOR KAISER PERMANENTE. JUST HORRIBLE SEEING THIS.

Dr. David Molina Garcia is excellent. He delivers information in a clear and easy to understand way. He gave us time to process information and ask as many questions as we needed. Thank you, Dr. Garcia!

Most Doctors & nurses here are very professional & caring. They are kind & helpful. Kaiser ER Irvine is good too. ER is always busy, but we are still in a Pandemic!

I was here for an emergency. I could barely walk. I was told to wait outside until I got tested for covid. I didn't even come here for a covid related symptom. I will definitely spread the word about this experience. I have enough video needed to make sure people who are in need of a doctor do not come here. I want people to see the type of hospitals we put our faith in. First question I was asked at the door was if I had a vaccination card for covid by the security guard. Then I waited outside for 32 minutes. I saw a man run with his little daughter in his arms having a seizure and was still not being allowed In. I was glad he ran inside past the security guard. Just so you know I didn't even get seen here. They didn't even come out to see if I was still outside. Left after 42 minutes

If I could mark minus 5!
Waiting time in emergency room is 4 hours plus eternity. And, nurse Cortney tell me "to go to another hospital". We have left without medical help! I' m praying this, so call "medical workers", that refuse medical help to my family, will have the same kind of" medical help" when they need it! Inacceptable and disgusting! We are cancelling immediately kaiser insurance.

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to say enough how much I appreciate and am thankful to the whole Labor & Delivery Team as well as Postpartum. My wife and I stayed there from Wed to Saturday and were taken care by the most competent, attentive and knowledgeable team of nurses, doctors and midwives. The facilities are really nice but what makes this place is the people who work in there, best experience I’ve ever had in a hospital! Thank you Kaiser team, you guys are outstanding!

I would literally rather die than be treated by this facility’s ER. I will NEVER go back and my experience has left me considering switching away from Kaiser insurance altogether.

The staff here is incredibly rude and don’t seem to care about the people in their care. If you ask for updates on wait time (which are incredibly long), they treat you like you’re stupid. The security staff also seems to target and bully sick people. For example they would allow some people to bring in a companion (sometimes two) while refusing to allow others to have any accompany them.

Going here was a horrible experience. Do. Not. Recommend.

Fairly new large facility. Well kept clean organized. Parking can be a challenge and there's a fairly long walk from the car to the facility.

I do not recommend coming to the ER here. Especially if Dr. Patel is your physician. He was condescending, arrogant and did not treat us with respect. If you are looking for a place to get judged instead of treated for your health, go see DR PATEL
