Kasa The Catrina San Mateo

Really liked it. Loved that there was laundry. Rooms are compact & efficient. You have everything you need. The check in process is a little weird the first time but we will stay again. What we liked most is that cheap delicious eats were all very easy walk.

Casa The Catrina in San Mateo is fantastic for the price. The rooms have actual Keurig coffee machines and the pillows are very nice. The bathroom looked newly remodeled and spotless. The only issue was there was no hot water so I called and it was immediately fixed. Great place!

Rooms were nice, clean, and comfortable. Outside has kind of a motel vibe. Really good value, I would 100% book here again. I stayed here by myself (female) and felt completely comfortable. I love then it's all virtual check in. You don't have to stand in line to check in, you don't need key cards (key pad lock entry), you don't need to interact with anyone during your stay, and parking is available.

I Love Kasa Katrina it's perfect for a short stay or longer. Simple but lovely decor. Convenient to everything in San Mateo!

A pleasant surprise at how lovely it was. SO CLEAN! Comfortable bed, lots of hot water and very nice shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion & hand soap.
Checking in was easy. If I could make 1 suggestion it would be a few extra coffee pods and another bottle of water.

Great room for a great price. The location was central to what I needed. I enjoyed the self checkin and checkout. I would definitely try this company again.

I travel for business and can afford more expensive options, but Kasa will be my go-to. The room is as comfortable as any comparable hotel, and the building has more character. But the convenience is fantastic - my Ubers and deliveries literally come to my front door. The walls are a bit thinner, and the wall-mounted HVAC is a bit louder and kicks on and off repeatedly. But the owners executed well on a cool vision repurposing what was probably a terrible old motel. You’ll be surprised how removing a lobby, receptionist, and long hallways and elevators improve the experience. It's like staying at your mom's condo.

Contactless check-in and out! We stayed here with our dog when we had a power outage at our place nearby. Nice motel setting with easy parking. In the back of the property, there’s a small pet area. In the front, there is a lobby space that you can hang out in. The lobby area has a few tables to work from, a vending machine with snacks and a few toiletries, and an outdoor commons area. I believe there’s a laundry area and a soda vending machine on the property as well. Since this motel is right off of El Camino, there are a lot of restaurants nearby!

Got the job done! The shower had good water pressure, which is an early indicator for a comfortable lodging experience. The immediate neighborhood is not inviting for pedestrians, so don’t expect gorgeous morning walks.

Overall it’s a good place to sleep comfortably at an affordable price.

The rooms are very lean and modern looking to our liking. The check in and check out process was easy. Locations are great, it is walking to distance and/or a few minutes drive to many good restaurants. It's also about half an hour away from all the tourist places and about 20 mins from the airport. I wish that there could have been an 'in person' lobby that we can talk to instead of texting (which is not bad because they do reply very fast). Also, i wish the sink could have been a little lower because it is very high compare to standard height. The walls are also very thin, you could hear the TV from another room, the talking, the walking and every single car that passes by (it's very hard to sleep sometimes). I wish that there could also add a safe to the room and a more accessible way to the 2nd floor for older people. Overall, it was good, the staff are very friendly. Would recommend.

They don't have receptionist in this place. They want you to register via phone in what I consider a rather complicated manner and then they will text you a room lock code. But I am an older man who is not trained in technology and found the task daunting. Had to find another motel. Would not have picked this place had I known.

I had accidently booked the wrong date for my stay and because I purchased a "non refundable" option, they wouldn't allow me to change my date to an earlier one like what I wanted.
HEADS UP, double check everything you have is ok before checkout.
I only booked a single night and their policy (kiss my @$$) wouldn't allow me to change it to an earlier date.
Understood, it's my fault, but changing a single night's booking shouldn't be a problem especially when you're spending more than $100 on an off-day
Last time I use this place

Solid stay here. It's an older "motel" style layout, but inside the rooms are boutique luxury. The area is fine, a bit commercial but lots of restaurants and things nearby.

Two things:
1.the heating/cooling unit is noisy as it cycles on and off
2.there's nowhere near enough counter space in the bathroom to put your toothbrush etc.
Otherwise the rooms are nice. Stayed in two different rooms at times
