Japanese Restaurant Kazan reviews
15The sushi was delicious! The appetizers were also quite tasty and authentic. The ramen was just sub par. I would certainly come back for the sushi though! The ambiance is cozy
This was our first visit. The mushroom fries are a dish that I must enjoy again.
The fried calamari was both regrettable and a crime.
This was a waste of food, waste of anticipation and time.
Maybe I’m old but it was so dimly lit inside that I could barely read the menu. They had a crazy selection of various items but we opted for the omakase nigiri. The fish was good but nothing spectacular stood out, unfortunately. And the rice could've been cooked and seasoned better. We got 16 pieces which were about $6 per. They have a decent alcohol list also. Solid place but most likely won’t return.
One of my favorite places in the city when I'm craving sushi Maki. Their green dragon roll is delicious!
Kazan is the best Japanese I've experienced outside of Japan! (And I lived there.) This hole in the wall is an easy recommendation that I've already shared with a dozen friends. We ordered the agedashi, okonomiyaki, chefs choice sashimi and spicy salmon collar. Paired it all with a cold sake and EVERYTHING was better than anticipated. The spicy salmon collar was my favorite and the slices of sashimi were thick, marbled and fresh! There's no improvements needed in any way from this little joint.
I'm counting the days until I can come back, but I'm certain this place is going to become very popular very soon, so I'll be sure to make a reservation.
Cool spot with some solid sushi and side dishes. I will say that their American rolls are not that good but everything else is good
I don't usually write reviews, but this omakaze is the best I've ever eaten. I can't remember the name of the fish, but everything worked well and the garnish on top was the perfect combination. I'll have to come back to try other things next time.
One of the best Sushi spots in the bay. They always have the freshest fish and the sushi chef knows the best cuts. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is inviting.
They also have a variety of selections for Japanese cuisine, so there is a dish for everyone's liking.
Great sake and Japanese craft beer options as well.
Nice little place on my beloved 24th street which never disappointed! Their sushi are so delish and big that we used to order less than in other places just to avoid overeating (: I love Kazans’ soothing semidarkness which adds the ambiance. And attentiveness of their stuff as well as quality and speed of work of the kitchen. Always recommend this place to those who craves for sushi at reasonable prices in SF
This place has absolutely one of the best sushi’s in the city. Great friendly staff with a creative menu. The veggie gyoza was a winnnn!
Some of the smaller plates were OK, but the Salmon miso yaki (more like yucky) plate was bad.it was slimy, tasted off and severely undercooked. Also got a Lion King roll which was old tasting and slimy and service pretty much avoided us until we asked for the check.maybe we caught them on an off night. At least they took off the roll from the bill.
Food: 3/5
Service: 3.5/5
Ambiance: 3.5/5
Overall: Food was pretty standard fare in my opinion.
The extended review.
Food:
Beef Gyoza - 3/5 - A good amount of filling and a good crispy texture. Overall it was standard fare.
Unagi Kabayaki - 3/5 - I always am curious to see how big a portion every restaurant serves. This portion was sort of small in my opinion. The flavor was decent.
Service: 3.5/5 - Friendly service.
Ambiance: 3.5/5 - A nice ambiance overall.
Great atmosphere, service and some of the freshest fish I’ve ever had. The Omakase was top tier.
We love coming to this neighborhood izakaya. The lady who runs the dining room is wicked efficient and super friendly. The food is always fresh and delicious. They always go out of their way to make room to accommodate.
Great place. It’s a little tight inside. Kind and friendly service. Jalapeño poppers fried was delicious. Has some small kick. I like spicy. The beef teriyaki steak was good. Tried the stout beer and it’s good, not to strong of a taste. Wife and I love the salad dressing. Great feel on the inside. Darker on the inside but relaxing.
