AVOID this dealership & service center - they sold us a new 2021 Sonata with manufacturer defects and are now refusing to honor their warranty coverage to repair.

We purchased the Sonata from them back in April and when we brought it in for our first complimentary service the technician let us know that a parking sensor on the front bumper was loose and pointing inward. We had barely over 4k miles on the car with no incidents so this was surprising to hear. Fortunately, we took pictures of the car before we drove off the lot and noticed the sensor was clearly indented and loose in these pictures. We showed the technician, he agreed and scheduled an appointment to repair under the impression this would be covered under warranty.

Flash forward to today when we take it in for our maintenance appointment and the first thing we are told is it will cost us ~$400 just for them to provide an estimate on the work. I asked to talk to a manager and they struggled for 10+ minutes to locate any sales manager before another man, not even sure he was a sales manager, said he was ready to review the damages with us.

The guy walked us out to the car and stated "The same thing happened to my car" (yeah right) and claimed that like him - we must have hit a curb to cause the damage. When we showed him the images attached here, he responded "so what that was 8 months ago. There's nothing I can do for you now. " The guy was a total jerk - so despite having to take time off work just to bring the car in we just decided to leave and escalate to the hopefully more competent folks at Hyundai corporate.

I'll update this review if the issue is resolved, but otherwise strongly suggest going to another dealership if not another car manufacturer.

I was very impressed with Tim. He was so kind and helpful. I have honestly not always had the best experience with service at this location, but Tim's professionalism and attentiveness has made me feel more positively about the business. Thank you, Tim!

Had a pretty good experience. They got my car done sooner than anticipated. Supposed to be 3-4 days, got it done on the 2nd day. They provided a loaner, so I wasn't stressed over it. I wasn't able to pick it up during regular service department hours, but they let me pick it up from the sales department after hours. So that made things much easier and convenient. Disappointed it didn't get washed. Maybe because I picked it up late.
The only reason it's not a 5 star review, is because of the check in time at drop off. It took 10 minutes of waiting in line for someone to acknowledge I was there, then another 10-15 for them to finally get to me. Not sure why it took so long, it seemed there was enough people working. Good thing I didn't have anywhere to be at a certain time otherwise I may have been late.

The communication was non-existent with our service tech Manuel and after week after week of no update & no progress we decided to drive back down, demand answers and ultimately ended up taking back our vehicle after realizing it was left in uncapable hands. Decided to take our Sonata over to Poway Hyundai, they updated us multiple times throughout the repairs and we walked away grateful and satisfied.

Tim in the service department was extremely helpful. Didn't have to wait too long even though there was a high volume of vehicles in for service that day. Tim explained everything that was to be done as well as how long I'd have to leave my vehicle. Vehicle was ready when promised. Very happy with the service received.

Kyle made the car buying process absolutely effortless. When I spoke with Kyle, I detailed precisely what I was looking for, how much I was willing to spend, and most importantly, how time constrained I was - I wanted to get in and out as quickly as possible. Kyle made it all happen, and within an hour, I was on my way home with my new car. It was the best car buying experience I've ever had.

I took my car in on 11/18 and didn’t get my car back until 12/1. Thats 14 days. I was also required to get a rental (the reason why I decided not to leave my car the last time I took it in October) but since they said it would take 2-5 days and Hyundai would reimburse if the issue was diagnosed and fixed) I decided to leave my car this time around. They didn’t see my car until 11 days after it was sitting at the dealership and it took them 1-2 days to diagnose my car.

They weren’t able to duplicate my screen issue, but my radio STILL pops on several times even though I turn it off.

The rolling noise in my door is still happening and it’s actually more prevalent since getting my car back. I also almost received my car back extremely dirty and I asked them if they washed it (since I saw how dirty it was when I came in to drive it with the tech) but they told me they cannot wash it because they don’t have the manpower to do it at the time. I told them I brought my car in very clean, and the only reason it looks like this is because it was sitting at the dealership for 14 days. So I had them run it in the wash prior to leaving.

Even with the issues that I still have, I don’t even want to take it back to this dealership. It was a headache having my car there that long, but having these issues still present…it’s really upsetting.

The advisor and tech were as thorough, kind and as “helpful” as they could be, but the dealership shouldn’t have appointments available if they can’t get to your car right away. I selected this dealership because the other Hyundai dealerships did not have earlier appointment spots, but I should have gone with the other dealerships.

I was having a part put on my car that I ordered. Tim was my service person and he did an excellent job keeping me informed of the progress being made on my vehicle. He was very nice and professional at all times. I would recommend Tim as a service rep anytime.

I really can't rate my recent experience at Kearny Mesa Hyundai as they were too busy to take care of my vehicle. I was told that due to the backlog, and because I didn't have an appointment, they probably wouldn't get to my car for 3 weeks. I was forced to find an alternative mechanic to help resolve the issue with my vehicle. Service Advisor, Tim Pitts, was very understanding and assisted me in having my car ready to pick-up two days after I dropped it off. Thank you, Tim, for your help!

Jam-packed when we arrived, but they were organized and we only had to wait about 10 minutes after arriving for our 9: 30 appt. Although it was obvious, they were trying to serve an extraordinary number of cars, Brittany, our service advisor, we fast and efficient and always had a smile on her face. Good experience today.

Usually I take my car to Poway for service, but they went through a change in ownership and was closed for longer than a month. It took 3 weeks to get an appointment because they were so busy with Poway's customers as well. They did keep my car for 8 days, but the manager Tim kept me updated on the status of my car. I would text him and he always responded quickly. The service was excellent.

I recently bought a car here and had a good experience. Tony (sales) and Hayden (finance) were knowledgeable and helpful. They weren’t pushy, which would’ve turned me away! Super happy with my new Tucson.

Set my appointment for my vehicle recall weeks in advance. When the day arrived, the dealer did not give me a time frame. 3 days later, they still hadn't even touched it. I was also told that I would get a free loaner car since it was for a recall. They had no loaner, and shuttled me to an Enterprise rent a car. I was told the cost would be covered. Turns out they only cover 2 days and I'm responsible for the remaining days. With setting the appointment well in advance, they should have had a tech assigned to my vehicle when it arrived. Instead they burnt multiple days with it just sitting, and costing me time and money for the rental. Very frustrated that they over promise, and wildly under deliver.

Jerrin Kelly, our service writer was great. Kept us informed through the whole process and returned our calls promptly. The car was in the shop longer than expected to accomplish a recall item but the dealership provided a rental car for the duration. I don't think you could have asked for more from them. Good job overall.

I’m very excited about my new Santa Fe Hybrid Plug-in! My salesman, Neil Isom, kept me informed and was always so quick to respond to a text, phone call and email. He’d always pick up the phone and call me back. I tried to get information from other dealerships about this car but I’d either get no response or they’d never followed up. It’s a tough time to buy a car right now with so many shortages. But Neil made the process simple and easy. I would recommend Neil and Kearny Mesa Hyundai. Thanks!

Hassan was the absolute best! Him and his manager worked for an hour or more trying to find a Santa Cruz in the color I wanted. After finding the only one available in a 200 mile radius he was able to work with us on the price and monthly payments. The next day they went out of their way to pick up the car from the other dealership and drop it off at my house. They went above and beyond. Hassan was attentive, informative and made this process fast, easy and enjoyable. 6 stars

Not a good first-time experience. My car is sitting in service for 4 days now, not including Sat. & Sun, and still no diagnosis, and in the meantime I have to pay for a rental while my car sits there.
