Kehaulani’s Cafe reviews
11 We ordered the Just Like Oxtail soup, Fried Chicken with Ube Waffle, Tortang Talong, Lechon Bowl and Mini malasadas. Everything were tasty, although I found the Just Like Oxtail soup a bit bland for my liking.
We met the owner, he was nice and explained answers to my questions very well. I recommend this restaurant.
As a transplanted Hawaiian, my wife and I expected local style food. More mainland interpretations of Local style imho. No Aloha spirit there either. Sad! I have friends with different abilities who have also had to navigate the discriminatory public built-environment at this restaurant.
I offered my architectural/ building/ ADA expertise to help them use free federal money to remediated their violations. They have yet to call to discuss how I can help them at no cost. As of 12 March 2003, they have not even corrected the architectural barrier violations that do not require any construction experience or money.
Sad they don’t want to reap the untapped revenue stream that those with different abilities represent.
Pretty great place overall, haven't had food yet that I had anything but positive to say about! Staff attentive and friendly. Only issue I had is the heater seemed to be not working well as it was almost as cold inside as out the last time I was there at opening.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Cozy family restaurant. Crispy Pata special was exactly as expected. Huge piece of shank perfectly crisp and delicious. Moco loco had so much flavor. Patience is required as everything is made to order. Perfect place for a weekend brunch.
Food is excellent. I just wished the music was not as loud as i cant even hear the server speaking to me. I just want to eat.
Very Delish food, good presentation, great customer service, reasonably priced. Going back to try other dishes.
Food much better then when they first opened. Prices actually more than on the Islands. All good though!
We had a lovely lunch! The vibe is relaxed, the food is super tasty, the service is wonderful! Locomoco, big burger, and oxtail soup were all delicious. Can't wait to go back and have ube waffle and chicken! Wonderful addition to our beautiful Vallejo ️
Tl;dr Do not order the glass noodle veggie soup with ribs (2 stars). Braised short rib (4 stars) was really good
First time here based on all the positive reviews. One of our favorite restaurants (Joy of Eating) was closed after the storm so we checked out this place, which is about 1 mile away.
This restaurant is tucked behind a motel 6, on a side street, so it could be easy to miss. The area is kinda sketchy, kinda dirty but during the day it feels kinda safe. The parking lot is small and clean. Park on the street at your own risk - it is a narrow side street.
It is nice and clean inside the restaurant. There were people seated at 3 tables and we were seated quickly. I was going to order the fried chicken (Chicken Loco Moco) but the server told me about the specials of the day. One of the specials was a glass noodle dish with vegetables and ribs. It sounded wonderful when she described it and she said it was really good. So, unfortunately, I took her recommendation.
The broth was like hot water and fish sauce. That's it. No spices. No depth. No flavor. The vegetables must have been frozen because they added no flavor to the dish or the broth. They were just like flavorless things that looked like vegetables. The ribs were old and dry. I guess when you're trying to get rid of old ribs, you throw them into a soup and hope the customer can't taste the rancid oil. Then, make it a 'special' for the day.
I honestly don't understand why restaurants do this. If your food is old don't try to re-package it in another dish. Specials are supposed to be good and fresh.
Positive: My partner ordered Da Loco Moco and it was really good!
Great food.very friendly and polite staff ladies.highly recommend for them hangover hangry weekend hunger
