My husband was transferred from UCLA ICU 21 Nov 22 from having a Craniotomy for Glioblastoma and discharged from Kindred 26 Jan 23 to our home; unfortunately to Hospice. I admit that I had my reservations from coming from a top notch facility such as UCLA to an LTAC. Sure, the facility is not as bright and shiny as UCLA, but I came to learn that the staff that cared for my husband were just as knowledgeable and compassionate. Their processes operate much different than what I am used to seeing that the RN is not as "hands-on, " with patients unless they choose to do so; which I definitely had my favorites because they didn't hesitate for one moment to roll their sleeves up and get dirty! Speaking of which, the work horse of the units are the CNA's! Bless you! They clean the patients, are literally at EVERYONE'S beck and call, and there are only 2 of them per shift cleaning multiple patients! LVN's the go between for RNs and CNAs; dispense meds and help with all the dirty work - sometimes, again, depending on the LVN. Then during shift change (worst time ever for a patient to need to be changed) time stands still! This is one of the reasons why I'm not giving 5 stars. Leadership needs to fix this. When it comes to putting a check in the box for state requirements vs patients needing to be changed because they are sitting in urine/feces, I believe the latter takes precedence. And it's up to Leadership to justify that in your records to cover your employees so that they aren't written up because of it and patients don't suffer from it. Another reason why is that for the most part, everyone that works there are amazing, caring and nurturing people that love what they do; and I believe they should be. They care for people who are sick and need their help and sometimes can't speak for themselves. BUT, there are a handful of people that are just there collecting a check from the top down; Charge Nurses to CNAs to Pharmacy. Leadership needs to be more alert. Kindred Hospital Rancho is a good facility and can be a great one.
Thank you PT and RT!
My favorite people were always the ones that never hesitated in helping and/or getting their hands dirty! Thank you so much. I am forever grateful to you and your kindness.

I was there for 2 weeks. The nursing staff was very nice. Physical therapy came in every day to get me up and walking.

Awful filthy facility with horrible care. My father was transferred here in 2018 as a second choice after horrible experience at kindred Ontario. Inexperienced staff, and do not follow directions set in place by doctors. Administered morphine to make him sleep when told not to, then he was unable to participate in his therapy. He went backwards in a matter of a week. Only facility to neglect his meds, fluids so bad caused his defibrillator/pace maker to trigger and go off multiple times. Would never bring a family member or loved one to a kindred again.

I don't understand that every negative comment that's left the same sentence the same phrase is left that they would like to discuss the situation looks fake to me it's an automatic answer it's a machine it doesn't seem real I don't think you guys care

Our family is so grateful for all the hardworking employees at Kindred. We appreciate all of them showing up to care for the patients daily especially our loved one. The prognosis updates are always appreciated. Thank you Kindred!

My husband had a procedure at Kindred Hospital in Rancho, and the people and care he received was excellent. I must say it was above and beyond what he has received from other facilities. I would return to this facilitie when needed. Thank all at Kindred who were compassionate, humble, and kind. Your commitment to your patients is seen in all you do.

My mom was recently here for knee surgery on 1/19/22. To be able to be admitted for surgery, she was tested for COVID on 1/13/22 and her results were Negative. My mom left the hospital on 1/20/22, with a POSITIVE result for Covid. Please be careful.

Hi! I don’t know much about the treatment service of my uncle specifically, but I would like to give a huge appreciation post for the security guard Shan, I wasn’t able to visit my uncle indoors but every time I dropped supplies off Shan was amazing and remembered me. Really this guy deserves the world and more, very nice man no matter what time he was into his shift.

Wife was there recently and almost lost her life. She was taken out for physical therapy and they left her hooked up to the wheel chair oxygen that went empty. A nurse also tried to give her someone else's medication. If you have a loved one there or going there check on them at night. Make sure there getting there medications on time. Patient safety needs to be fixed. Place is not safe for someone that can't talk for themselves. This is no joke. Trust me I was there every day to make sure my wife lived.

If your loved one is being transferred to this hospital, it’s best to chose hospice because these people are so not equipped to treat critically ill patients. It is terrible, room temperature is HOT and hospital is dirty…. Don’t let your loved one be transferred here!

22 August 2021, my mom was admitted to Kindred Hospital in Rancho Cucamonga for pneumonia. It felt like an old convalescent home. Inside looked old. The restrooms and patient rooms could use more attention and just daily maintenance as a whole. From looking at the place, it isn’t great. Needs cleaning. However, I wanna say, it was the people that worked there that made Kindred Hospital a 5 star rating for us. ALL of them were so good to me and my mom. Izza was the first nurse that received my mom. She’s was super nice, compassionate and professional. Upon arrival, I came off a little strong being that it was loud and it just reminded me of a convalescent home but Izza remained polite, understanding and professional at all times. She assured me that my mom would be taken care of while she was there and she was. The following day she had a different nurse. She was a young female Filipino nurse as well. She explained the “long stay” term being that that was bothering me. She said “don’t worry about that. It doesn’t mean nothing, if your mom heals, your mom will go home. That’s just the care we provide when patients need it. ” I felt very at ease after talking to her. The LVN Mercedes had my mom a couple times while she was there and she was good to her every time she had her. Polite and respectful, she did her job right. Alyssa was great too. Being that we lived 2 hours away I would have to rely on phone calls with the nurses throughout the week. Alyssa was one of the LVN’s I spoke to over the phone when I called to check on my mom. She was super nice and understanding. She would inform me of my mom’s status every day and she would relay my messages to her. I say that to say, she possesses the compassion to care for patients and their families; to take the time to go back and forth to assure a family member when needed. She didn’t know me. I hadn’t met her. And as busy as they are, she took the time to do what I asked of her and that displayed her true character, caring for not only patients but for their family members also. CNA Rita was nice. She had my mom a couple times as well and she was great to her every time she had her. My mom liked her a lot. She was polite, respectful and Caring. Respiratory: Patrick initially came off strong but he was amazing once I got to know him. Upon arrival my mom was at 15 usage of oxygen and by the time she was discharged she was at 2. The goal was to wean her off oxygen and even though she wasn’t completely off by the time she left Kindred, I believe they did their best in doing so. There was one female I’d like to make mention of. I didn’t catch her name, night shift, Asian or Hawaiian. She immediately checked my moms usage, saw she was at 100% and immediately lowered her to 2 and monitored her continuously. It was because of her that my mom went down to 2 before departing the facility. I wasn’t able to meet the therapists but my mom did tell me they were females and they treated her very well. They were kind and understanding of her weakness. Cindy Palmer handled issues/concerns we had or saw with the hospital or staff. She was kind and heavily involved. The days I was there visiting, she would be conducting her patient check. The only concern I had was on COVID-19 procedures. Patients were roomed together whether vaccinated or unvaccinated. She informed me that patients were tested regularly so I asked her, How often do they test patients that are unvaccinated? She said she’d have to get back to me but never did. Dr. Joseph Heradi was Awesome to my mom. He wasn’t much into details unless you asked him but he did treat her pneumonia and she was eventually healed with antibiotics and time. My mom liked him a lot. He is also the same Dr.that referred her to Casa Colina for rehabilitation. She received her dialysis treatments as required. She did tell me it was a old and out dated dialysis machine but it did the job and that’s all mattered. Case Management was Mary. She called to coordinate the conference between me and the different teams, which was very helpful. THANK YOU TO ALL!
