Konnichiwa Sushi & Bar, La Mesa CA

Amazing food great atmosphere, kinda trendy but not in a stuck up way.
Seen all types of people here and after tasting the food can see why.
Recommend the Godzilla roll!

Great food. Huge list of different rolls. Also had some nigiri. Full bar and decent number of beers on tap. Not the cheapest night out, but if you're looking for budget-sushi, maybe you should rethink your life choices, because that is a risky path you have chosen.
I will definitely be back to this place.

The customer service is the worst, it’s the 3rd time this happened to me, I’m just going to look for a different sushi place,
I try to call and place my order and then no one picks up the phone, so I go to the restaurant to place it in person and I get there 1h before they close and they said that the kitchen it’s closed.
Over all very bad attention to customer

1. They advertise false prices on their website. When I asked about it the server said “it’s been like that for years”…. Then update your website or honor the price you advertise.

2. Sushi was decent. Rinds were still on the lemon slices atop one roll. Fish was average. Miso soup was lukewarm. Rice was great.

3. Most staff was friendly aside from the reaction of our server when I asked about the price differential.

Wow—never knew that La Mesa was the go-to place for imaginative sushi! Konnichiwa has indoor/outdoor seating and is great to visit during Friday Farmer’s Market on La Mesa Blvd. Our food was fresh and fab! Really hit the spot for a hot Friday lunch. Very nice wait staff, all friendly and helpful. Definitely planning a return visit!

The food was not good. Service was awful. It took me flagging someone down to even be acknowledged then we were told I’ll be there in a minute. It’s not even real crab. I asked if one of the rolls was deep fried or just the jalapeño they put in it…. Was told it’s just the jalapeño but when it came out it was the whole roll. Took way too long for us to get our checks which we had to remind them to split up. Awful experience here, will not ever return. Very disappointed

This sushi bar has just skyrocketed to the top of my list with some of the best sushi in San Diego! I ordered the Konnichiwa and Lemon Drop sushi rolls and both had exquisite taste and a perfect pairing of flavor and texture. The fish was fresh and tender and the rolls themselves were firm and didn't fall apart. That's a plus for me!

The atmosphere was a bit busy, but how could it not be for the amount of food you get for your dollar! The servers were polite and friendly, prompt when clearing plates and check ins.

The sushi is pricey but it's 100% worth treating yourself to!

You gotta love this little sushi place in downtown la Mesa. The service was really good and the sushi was also good. I wish they had more rolls that had some other types of fish other than tuna, shrimp or salmon. Overall the place is worth a try

Revisited with my daughter for a sushi date, and I was once again amazed by the flavorful sushi that is served. Its a small place but cozy love the atmosphere and the options of inside and outside sitting as well has a small bar area or you can also watch them make the sushi. We ordered two rolls tiger and a wake and bake. Both have well balanced flavors and honestly making me want more, I wanted to order a third roll of how delicious they are. We both agreed to come back to keep ordering different rolls from the menu.

Great sushi and reasonably low prices. The atmosphere is a little shabby but there are tables on the sidewalk so u can people watch as u eat. Interesting there are rice wrap and seaweed wrap and combos, so u can choose at different price levels and order a selection for as low as 8.99 each for about $20 for two plus drinks or at the high end $18 a dish each for two plus drinks for about $36 for 2 with additional tax and tip and drinks. They are very busy and the service is a little slow but not bad. So $20 minimum for two up to $55 for two isn’t bad- $$ food price. We stopped going to bamboo sushi because they raise prices after the pandemic. At bamboo we could get away with $45 now it cost $75 for just 2 plates and drinks too much! Konnichiwa doesn’t have the atmosphere but prices and food are just as good without breaking the bank!

Super nice staff, food is good. Can't go wrong with sushi. I've been here 5 times and no issues with my order.

This was my 1st time at this place and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised.
The food was amazing, the waiters/waitresses were refreshing with their attentiveness.
The cook Victor was fabulous with the plates he was sending out.
The atmosphere was beautiful and the weather was very nice.
I definitely want to recommend this place.

Honestly, this is the best sushi I have had in San Diego. Super fresh fish service is great. Konnichiwa Sushi was recommended by a friend and I agree it’s absolutely amazing!

A little disappointed that their website menu prices did not reflect the actual prices of the menu. Happy hour sushi -which is what we came for- said 9.95 online but it was 13.95 on the menu. Sushi was good, but would not pay full price. Good location to grab some food/drink during the Thursday night car show/music!

I usually don’t leave negative reviews but due to the lack of follow up and resolution to the issue, customers should know. We have been coming to this place since we moved to SD 3 years ago. We love Friday’s during the farmers market to people watch. The service and food has always been awesome. Large portions, tasty and good prices. However, I did a take out order a couple weeks ago for a beach picnic with my husband.

I surprised when I was told the total which about 30-35% increase and this was not reflected in their online menu, which by the way still has not been updated. I proceeded with the order anyway because we love the food here. I paid extra $2 for spicy yellowtail on the Volcano roll instead of crab because of allergies. Picked up the order, did not check it because I have never had an issues. Driver 25 mins to the beach to realize the order still had crab not the spicy yellowtail which we paid extra for and the scallop roll also had the crab salad on it. We could not eat either roll I called to speak with the manager. She stated that he would remake it. However we were already out of the area. I was given the owners information. I called them on the next business day. It’s been over 2 weeks and no response and no resolution. I have called spoke with manager Shane who’s been very courteous. However no resolution. Just good money wasted without getting the product I purchased. This is absolutely unreasonable and not the way loyal customers or any customer paying good money should be treated.
