La Brea Tar Pits and Museum reviews
20We didn't get to visit the museum, maybe next time, but we very much enjoyed strolling around the park. Great place to visit with kids!
I found the visit enjoyable and interesting. I appreciated the interactive displays. I would recommend bringing a lunch and enjoy the beautiful grounds. The kids love to climb and play on the grassy slopes. My wife had difficulty walking due to a foot injury loaner wheelchairs were available. The grounds and museum were accessible.
$15/person for 1/2 hr in the museum at most. Add'l $6 for show. Outdoor tar pits are free. Not crowded at all. Recommend a nice walk outdoors and pass on time indoors
Wonderful experience! Except having to show COVID negative test results. But I am glad I went.
If you are in the area, drop by. Worth the time and visit. Ok who tossed the squaw in the pit?
These was my first time visiting there and had a great time looking at all the fossil and learning the history of these place.
The museum itself is really neat but also a little lacking in some areas. However it is really neat to see real paleontologist at work like jurassic Park.
Very cool museum with a nice gift shop. The park around the museum is wonderful as well and free to walk around and observe the tar pits.
$15 parking to see a small pond that smells like rotten eggs. You’re better off parking along one of the nearby streets and paying meter parking.
A scene of an elephant stuck in the tar while her baby is in distress? It makes a statement about how little humans care about other species but it’s not something I would come back to see again.
It was my first time there and was instantly became a little kid again seeing the tar and reading up on the history was an experience like no other!
If you haven’t been here before, it’s a must if you are in the area! This was my second time visiting, my first being when I was 9 years old. I was fascinated both times, it’s definitely an exciting place for all ages.the 3D movie was very well done and the entire experience was both educating and fun! It’s not too crowded, but make sure to bring and prepare proof of vaccination for ages over 12.hope you have a great visit just like we did!
4 starts just because it is pretty small.
Aside of that, very interesting and great helpful staff.
A most go especially with kids!
Had no clue this place was real, but had to visit when passing through LA since we're watching the show. Fascinating, and would highly recommend. Winter of 2021, $15 to park on site, then $15 to tour the museum, if not a local resident.
A nice little museum with informative and family-friendly exhibits about the natural and geological history of the area. I highly recommend coming here when visiting the area.
I was so excited to visit here buy it was a HUGE disappointment. Nothing to see pits of hot tar. That's it. Cannot go into the museum without proof of vaccine.total waste of time. Oh, almost forgot to mention $15 for parking to see nothing
It's a lot different from the last time we came here some 15 years ago lots to do and see there is some interaction thing for kids by the gift shop in the gift shop has items at Gift Shop prices but for the attraction and the things to do the money is well spent I think staff is very friendly and welcoming very helpful the facility is well-maintained and well-kept
I was surprised that more people weren't there. Great teaching museum about the deadly tar pits and how fossils were retrieved. Fun hands on exhibits and the movie is worth the extra fee.
Garage open at 9: 15. Park outside much cheaper. Really nothing interested outside of the museum
Amazing experience. Such a great exhibit in the LA area. Bring your families and friends and learn about the ice age environment of the Pleistocene. Many hands on activities and well
done exhibits. We were able to enter for free as university students.
