La Charrita Restaurant Mexican & Sea-Food reviews
31Great restaurant! With delicious food for everyone! They even have a 2nd menu dedicated to vegan entrees!
Cute small place for small tummies. Maybe good for vegans but not for others. Food was ok and not enough even for my kids so I ordered more. Some plates like filet a la plancha better than others. I personally didn’t like my enchilada but it was ok. The staff are very friendly though. I would not recommend if you are looking for a nice restaurant with big i door dining room
Great Mexican restaurant and like half their menu is vegan, so it's super easy to have a bigger group here because everyone can find something that fits their diet.
Great little restaurant, a real little gem in Old Town Newhall. Good to see that it survived the pandemic. Great staff, very friendly and great menu. Vegan, vegetarian, or normal food is always delicious. Love this place.
Amazing food! Probably the best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to with a dedicated vegan menu! I’ll definitely be visiting this place whenever I’m in town.
I ordered the Cheeto nachos I believe. Should’ve just names em lettuce chips. No meat I maybe picked about 10 pieces of asada lit small pieces. Terrible it was full of onion like if that was really going to substitute for the missing meat.
La Charrita is a great Mexican place for adult vegetarians, vegans and omnivores-but not for vegetarian kids. We stopped by for dinner with high expectations to a have a solid vegetarian dinner, with some ambiance, and, for the most part, our expectations were met.
I ordered the enchiladas de mole' vegano, which consisted of 2 corn tortillas filled with organic jackfruit and covered in a delightful mole', served with vegetarian rice and creamy pinto bean sides. It was truly delicious. My wife ordered the las fajitas veganas, which was made with sauteed non-GMO soy chick'n, bell peppers, onions and a squeeze of orange juice. It came with 4 tortillas (corn, flour, or a combination). This was also very delicious, even after experiencing paper plates, plastic silverware and parking lot seating.
The positives: 1) finding healthy, hearty, authentic and tasty vegan/vegetarian Mexican fare (that's a rarity!) 2) friendly and attentive service
The disappointments: 1) outdoor seating consisted of 2-person tables next to parked cars; 2) paper plates and plastic silverware to eat $15 dinner entrees; 3) we promised our vegetarian 4-year-old he'd have a quesadilla at an authentic Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, they could not accommodate this simplest of requests. After we finished our meal we were forced to go to a 2nd Mexican restaurant a half mile away that had a kids menu to fulfill our promise to him.
I believe I was generous with my 4-star rating, only because, to me, the quality of the food reigns supreme, especially for a vegetarian looking for good Mexican food. The rest of the experience is important, but recovering from a pandemic, and wanting to sit outdoors to keep our unvaccinated child as safe as possible, I can overlook the rest. Without the pandemic, i may have given 3 stars.
Overall, I recommend La Charrita for an authentic Mexican meal, especially a healthy and hearty vegan one. The ambiance may leave a bit to be desired, but the experience with still be positive.
Mexican food and the feeling here is excellent.arrived at five, it wasn't busy.i'll return with my friends.this place has a great atmosphere.
My wife and I ordered the Vegan Carne En Su Jugo and Vegan Birria, paired with Vegan Horchata and Agua de Jamaica; all was super delicious. All the food was served in generous portions too. We will definitely be going back to try other Vegan items
Mexican food and the feeling here is excellent. Staff treated us so nice. The place has a nice atmosphere.
Amazing vegan options sopes al pastor are my favorite. The only problem is the hours the sign on the window says 10: 00, online it says 10: 30 but in actuality they get there at 11: 00 am it is a little late in my opinion. But food is great! Hint: Ask for all beans because the rice is no good.
Horrible service. Was just there and the chicken posole was very bad. The waitress saw the expression on my face and offered to change the plate. The owner came out and said I knew nothing about food because her food is amazing. The waitress cleared our plates and cups while we were still eating and when we asked to please wait she said we had ri hurry because we had been there to long. (40mins). Will NEVER go back.
Great vega/Mexican/ sea food you will find have check this place out my dog Romeo and cheecho loco love the food. As much as I do great service quality meat must GO!
My wife found this place on our trip down the five a little bit off of the five but well worth it great food and good service!
First time here. It was a long wait, but when the food came, WOW, it was super tasty and perfectly seasoned. We are both vegan so my husband had the 3 tacos and I had the torta, both al pastor, which is the jackfruit. They were non-stop busy, which says a lot. We will definitely return to try more items another time and highly recommend this place, especially for vegans! We were told that they will become 100% vegan at the beginning of 2019.
The atmosphere is good and theres parking. The price is decent and the service is slow. We were the only ones there, the food is not the greatest or the worse. I didn't like how my beans was very watery.it was like eating soup. The plate i had was ok and the question is will i go back? Most likely not, i wasn't satisfied with the food.
Great meal and great service on Wednesday night. Staff was very accommodating to us and very friendly. Thanks to all and keep up the great work!
The fried eggs on both the Huevos Rancheros and Chaquilles were so over done the yolks were like hard boiled eggs. Three out of four people in our group got sick within an hour after eating, and the service was poor.
Great vegan options for a Mexican restaurant. The food tastes very authentic. The dining room is a little tight but the food was great.
I only went to try their vegan horchata, but was very disappointed to discover it was rancid tasting on the way home. Waste of $5 and the trip. I also wanted to go here for breakfast a few weeks ago with a friend, but the it wasn't open even though it was almost 11 am (it was supposed to open at 10: 30). We ended going to daily harvest cafe and it was amazing.
