I got the carnitas platter and it was solid. The black beans were excellent as well. With tip, it was $115 for 4 people. Pretty pricey for a place that doesn't have waiters. It's pork, rice and beans. Not exactly expensive stuff, but the food was great for sure. I'm sure the lease for this location is a fortune, so that probably explains the price. It's the Bay Area. What do you expect?
Generous portions too. Just enough to feel full without stuffing yourself. I would recommend and would definitely come back again when in Oakland. Beautiful downtown, BTW.
Tacos were great. I especially liked the fish and carne asada. The chicken taco was excessively spicy for my European liking. The atmosphere was great and staff was very helpful.
Natalia was super friendly, it is the first time I visit and won’t be the last. The atmosphere is happy, love the option of eating outdoor too.
Very yummy fish tacos. Pork & pineapple tacos are a must try. Friendly staff and the to-go order came out swiftly, although it was a busy Friday at lunchtime. Check it out!
They are consistently friendly. Food comes out quickly. My issue is this-the food is always missing salt and there a lack of citrus/pickled element. It’s like the food is just not at its full potential. I’ve been here several times.
Simply good food. I love their mole. Service is friendly and efficient. Please support this place. We can't afford to lose more good restaurants in this environment.
We have been to the restaurant and also used the catering service. Both are fabulous. Swan Market is a fun, casual place. Guerrera’s food is top-notch.
They catered a 70th birthday for about 80+ guests. Everyone raved about the food. We had the taqueria with a choice of barbacoa, pollo, or seasonal vegetarian. We also had refrescos, chips, salsa, guacamole, ceviche, and fruit cups with tamarindo sauce and Tajín. I just can’t put into words how good it was, and reasonably priced. Also, Reyna and her mother are thorough, efficient, and professional. At the same time they are warm, personal, and calm, so their very presence was a plus. My husband is a fantastic cook, so we have never had an event catered before. He was lukewarm to the idea initially, but thrilled with the results. He finally had a party where he could relax and visit and dance!
I will definitely be going to their restaurant and using their catering service again.
I hadn't been in the area since Cosecha closed. I saw that they had Pozole Verde on the menu just like Cosecha had. It was good but you can't beat that 24 hour bone broth. I'll probably come back to try something else.
Food is really good, fresh and delicious. If you're a net eater I'll love beef barbacoa! Guacamole made fresh!
Drinks are good but nothing special.
It's inside the Swan's Market alongside other casual cafes. It's more of a self service in a shared seating area where you find a seating and take your food and collect them back kinda stuff! Both inside and outdoor seating available.
Overall is good place for groups, gathering and very casual good food.
Parking is street parking so watch out!
Don’t let the small menu fool you. The focus is clearly on what they do best. Great for takeout or dinning in with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Walkable from Jack London Square with enough nearby parking and live music. Probably better parking during the day than at night when the area is busier. If you’re looking for Vegan/Vegetarian or Gluten free options they have it, but it’s not ideal. Otherwise, this place is super clean and friendly with delicious tacos and empanadas.
One of our (few) go-to’s. We usually come for the weekend chilaquiles - they are delicious. Everything is made with so much love and attention. It feels like eating at your abuelita’s house. Highly recommend. You won’t regret it!
I had a cheese empanada.
It was hot. It had a nice crispy outer shell (at the same time somewhat soft as well!).
It came with a nice garnish on top - with cheese, onion, tomato, cilantro (also cones with sour cream on top but I asked them not to put sour cream).
On the side it comes with refried beans (with cheese garnish on top of it).
It was tasty and surprisingly even one empanada was so filling.
Love Love Love Love This place. There is no wrong choice. The mole is to die for.the Chicken Enmoladas were slammin'. I love SWAN's depot and this really seals the deal. Enjoy a fun and delicious day in downtown Oakland.
Very chill location, dogs welcome. Staff was very friendly, they had live music and the food was on point. Was a little expensive.
Ay ay ay! I am Mexican and I lived in different states, I have to say this is one of the best Mexican restaurants, I tried the green pozole and barbacoa, fresh, flavorful, clean and delicious. I will return for sure. Yummy yummy in my tummy!
I came by the location for lunch, and I was excited to be there when they were open. Got two different tamales and almost got a taco. Turns out the two delicious tamales were plenty. Really fast service as they were ready when I ordered. Salsas they were served with were perfect. Melon Agua Fresca was fantastic! I'm looking forward to coming back again and would definitely recommend this spot for lunch.
Amazing tamales and enchiladas. Cutest indoor and outdoor eating space. Family-owned and super kind!
