La Purísima Mission State Historic Park reviews
14What a huge mission and park. Even saw someone getting (wedding?) pictures taken her. The people at the gate are super friendly and helpful
The gate attendant explained that we only had 30 mins to walk through! He pointed out the must see places and quickest way to get there.was very pleasant!
We had a really nice visit, trip, hike at this old historical Mission.
Checked the museum portion, it had a lot of artifacts, information and video presentations. Walked/hiked throughout the acres of refurbished buildings and sites. The walk through the buildings had a quiet and ominous feeling about it, you could envision and feel the past. A must for places to visit.
I liked how we could just walk around and see everything without a tour. Great for walking though watch out for poisen oak.
Impressive California Mission. Its large size, excellent condition (thanks to CCC restoration work in the 1930s), and very good signage. Really worth a visit, imo.
It's like stepping into an entirely different world. This mission has been restored to reflect the culture and provides an excellent context for visitors to experience.
Note: it's dry and best to go early if visiting in the summer. There are water fountains around the mission. Be aware of fire ants and the occasional lizard might startle you if you're not used to it. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. It may take about two hours to visit the entire mission.
Best mission I have visited so far. I highly recommend people to visit. It's such a great place for kids to interact with history.
Always a fun place to visit. The grounds are well maintained and it is one of the few places that you can take horses and mountain bike around. There are plenty of trails to hike and the Mission itself offers a lot of exhibits. We spent 2 hours there and only covered the main buildings.
Absolutely amazing mission. Totally rebuilt in the way the missions were originally constructed. A terrific museum, too. Allow enough time to see it all, animals included. We were there 3 hours and could have stayed longer!
The only mission I know that takes you back in time. Many people don't realize what they are missing when they bypass it.
Very interesting history. Buildings have beautifully restored. Mostly self guided tours with the endless Covid mess. Well worth the stop. Large area so be prepared to spend lots of time.
This State Park is fascinating and the Visitor Center is a must see. There are bike and hiking trails and it would be easy to spend hours exploring the area.
Great museum. Had lots to see and I personally learned alot.
My grandson enjoyed the animals they have there as well.chickens with a huge rooster.big pigs.donkeys and horses.
The grounds are well maintained and staff is friendly.
This mission is well kept and is the only one funded by the state. It has by far the best visitor center with clean restrooms and lots of picnic tables.
