Laguna Art Museum reviews
16My favorite part of this small museum was the immersive art in the center of the museum which had my mom and I enthralled for quite awhile. It told a story which was something that I will remember. It was worth the sidetrack from the beach ️
The current showings are spectacular! Get to know William Mortensen’s: Photography & Seduction. This showing is quite incredible and learn Mortensen’s keen eye on early photography with a twist of photo manipulation. Something very few artists achieved. A once Laguna resident has left an astonishing history behind. You will be emerged in his beautiful work. Don’t slip away without watching a 34min video by talented artist Rebeca Mendez’s The Sea Around Us. Take a beautiful journey on a 360 view of under water marvel. Beautiful shot and must not be missed while you visit the museum.
Extremely underwhelming. I was told the showcased exhibit was not open until tomorrow after my money was collected. There were 2 small areas to view. The 3rd floor was also off limits. No doubt laguna hosts many amazing artists but I did not see them in my 15 mins in this museum. The photography exhibit was not inspiring, I mean give the guy a wall but an entire wing? Laguna beach is the most pretentious and unfriendly place I’ve visited in a long time and I was born here! The locals hate to smile, and love to blast their vehicle horns in their fancy cars on these crazy crowded streets.it’s ridiculous.
It was a very neat place! Everyone who worked there was extremely nice. Some artist's work isn't there anymore, like the one we were looking for (Hanson Puthuff) who there was only one book for in the gift shop.
A new exhibit in the basement had been opened the day we went centered around photography. Very cool place, but small. Ages 11 to 18 are $9 (this isn't listed on the website).
This is my second time to check out Kahuna Art Museum. I enjoyed the show this time… but there’s no impression for my first visit. This time, they have a graduate exhibition from LCAD which is pretty good. And Francis portrait exhibition is great as well. The basement, they have Jean Lowe’s show which is my favorite, it is so fun and amazing to check it out.
Wonderful community art resource. Many thoughtful activities, events and exhibits. Truly a treasure.
I visited the Laguna Art Museum this past weekend with my family and had an amazing time! The exhibits were diverse and interesting, and the staff was super welcoming. My sister and I had a wonderful time speaking with Jennifer about the art. She was insightful and listened to our interpretations of the art. Loved it!
Lovely gallery space. They have a great permanent collection of Laguna artists I wish they had more of their artworks on display. $12 entry. Closed Wednesday.
Anyone can stick their kids drawing on fridge, but to make museum out of it is a whole other level.the audacity of these people
LAM has a permanent collection of Wayne Thibaud and other California notable artists. Special exhibitions are worthy of traveling to this wonderful museum.
The museum leaves a lot to be desired. Only worth visiting during First Thursdays when it's free. If you are truly looking for great art in Laguna I would suggest checking out the numerous galleries, not the museum.
Disappointed. I had high hopes. I thought I would see a good selection of early plein-air paintings that made this area famous. There were very few. I can’t fully express how let down I feel.
Due to the rainstorm last week, only three galleries are open today. Adjusting to the docent, they probably will be open again next week.
All the pieces are quite amazing, so since the place is small I feel like I have more time to appreciate!
I liked the photography exhibit of the Brutalist buildings at UC Irvine. The photographs and documentary of the annual Laguna famous art work simulations was fun and celebratory. The museum also has a good shop.
Fantastic local art museum. It has multiple floors and larger than it appears from outside. There is a cute gift shop filled with local artists work. They have wide variety of curated art exhibits. I particularly like the Matthew Rolston, Art People: The Pageant (sic of the Masters) and a Fanciful World: Jessie Arm Botke. Membership is really inexpensive and I believe comes with guest pass among other perks, like members only invites for special talks, exhibit openings, etc.
