Lake Amador Resort, Ione CA

Camping is always fun, but as for the grounds and accommodations here, it was a bit rough. Not a whole lot of tree cover, and a lage portion of the campsites are on a steep grade, forcing you to break a sweat on the way to the restroom (flooded toilets, no soap, real showers available though). The big attraction aside from the fishing lake itself is a swim pond. Complete with a waterside that is manned by an army of camping children. Good for sunbathing. The "quiet time at 10pm" and "dogs, only on leash" rules posted everywhere aren't enforced or respected, but it is family friendly in the daytime. Cool Cafe with helpful staff ladies and even live music on certain weekends. Overall: 3

We had a great time! It rained a little bit for a labor day weekend, regardless it was relaxing, the shower water was hot the views were amazing, 10/10 will return.

If I could give them zero stars they would get that. We were asked to leave for noise complaints. Who go’s camping to be quiet when you have kids? Seems to be some racial profiling to me. Don’t waste your time or money here.

Restaurant had a great menu and service. Fishing was a bit tough during the day but can be great at night.

WHITES ONLY! We had a party next to us that played music and partied all night. We did not complain because we know they’re building memories and having a good time. Around 7: 45am a security guard said it was too early to play oldies and make breakfast we have to wait till 8am. We respected him and turned off music till 8: 16. Shortly after a staff member came with 2 sheriff to tell us we had 4 warnings about our music we have to leave with no refund. They did not go to the party next to us that was white that was playing music till 4am. Then after letting them know we will be filing a lawsuit against them because we have video of the party next to us because they had party lights and we thought it was cool no one bothered them and after we told them a lawsuit will be filed they said we were given 7 warnings. They can’t even get their numbers right. Attached is the picture is the group of racist people. It was the same guy who is a Karen that kept calling for every little thing she said she wasn’t going to ruin his fun because of us. We rented 4 spots for a family trip but the 1 spot 50-60 yr old Karen got his way. Hope the party next to us gets to continue to have a good time and build memories that’s what camping is all about.

Super nice and helpful staff, my course light was ice cold, the fireplace warmed the place up and I almost caught a 3lb trout! Prices were also reasonable for food and boat rental.

Love it here. We have stayed here for our camping trip for 2 years. The kids love it. Good Fun

My family & I camped on the lake for 4 days and it was probably one of my favorite camping trips by far. Didn’t have the best luck fishing but we had a great time anyway. Can’t wait to go back!

Nice place to fish with your boat but the fish cleaning station sure needs improving it smells bad and dirty!

We had a great time camping for the night at Lake Amador. The water is so nice and it’s great that the lake is full!

We had a blast camping here. Tons of great campsites. We fished off the bank of our campsite. They have a swimming pond for the kids, a yummy cafe, and great service. Definitely a great place to fish. I caught two 3 pound monster Bass. They have trophy trout, catfish, bluegill and carp fish. Go camp here fun place for the whole family.

We reserved two spots for the holiday weekend Friday through Monday. Sadly half our party left Saturday and we left Sunday, the noise was too much at 2am. Turns out if you know the office folk you are not required to be courtesy- or keep the noise down after 10pm. For those with families or hoping to wake before the sun and go fishing this was an issue. That aside because it was out of our control - I would highly recommend. Gorgeous nature trails. Calm lake great for kayaking, fishing and paddle boarding. There is a playground as well as a swim area. No lifeguard. Bathrooms with plumbing lol and showers are available. There are campsites for about any type of camping with water and electric at some. Campsites are large and easily accommodate multiple tents. Note there is a charge for every car for each night as well as a charge per kayak/board. You can rent fishing boats as well as obtain Fishing permits, firewood, other necessities when you check in at the front lodge. Which also has a cafe on site.

Great place to camp for everyone large or small groups. Dry camping if you have generators. Or run off propane. All in all great day and night.

I love going here but I rarely catch fish from the shore. I enjoy it because it is not that far from home. It is getting warmer so trout are deep. Bass are easier to catch. Always 10° or more hotter here. They seem to have quite a few boats out fishing. Camping seems to be doing well. The store has cafe food on weekends. Looks hearty but tables are full. I will eat there someday.
