My first time visiting and was genuinely impressed, didn’t really realize it was a mobile home park. Facilities were nice, clean and well maintained.

I lived here as a child in 1957-8! It was called Rancho Citracado then. I went to Lincoln Elementary for fourth and fifth grades. I’ve been sitting here remembering the fun we had swimming in our first pool, yearning to be allowed to play shuffleboard, playing hide and seek in the wild land above the park. A friend and I made a salad (and ate it) from leaves and flowers we gathered on the hillside. So many memories and a lot of them deserve the emoji! I used to babysit the neighbors children when I was TEN! Different world!
My father did all the work with a Caterpillar tractor to build the roads, large terraces and the individual home terraces for Bernard Smith the original owner. My mother was the first manager. We moved in when it was just dirt and the first patios were being poured.
I can’t believe it’s still there. Greatly changed of course. I think the largest home then was 12’ wide.
It was a wonderful place for us then and it looks beautiful now.

Lake Bernardo Estates has come a long way the past 4 yrs. The new owners have redone the roads, and put in gates at the entrances. The lake looks gorgeous now. I like the fact that it’s family friendly and has a pool for the kiddos to cool off at during the summer. I would definitely recommend my family and friends to live here.

Great park. Clean, well kept, beautiful views and a lake. Management is always handy and responsive. Great community too. Really has it all!
