Lake Calavera Trail Head #2

Hidden gem tucked away in Carlsbad. Everything is possible, hiking, trail running, mountain biking, walking, and even strollers will take to atleast one of the paths in this park around a small reservoir. There are lots of entrances to access this park and lots of little side trails. This is a great place to go offroad biking for the first time as the trails are well maintained and mostly wide. Keep in mind this park does not offer much shade, plan on getting to the park early on warmer days. There are a few boardwalks over the edges of the marshes and you can get a closer look at plants and birds that are hanging around.

Beautiful scenery, and loads of trails to hike around. A good Variety of them too, however there is barely any shade, the elevation change isn't bad for a worthwhile view of the surrounding area.

Good, short, minimally strenuous. Perfect for a night hike

It is very much an urban hike, not really my thing, but it is well kept.

This is a well-maintained park width novice to intermediate trails. A great place to re-hone my dormant MTB skills.
