Lake Shasta Caverns National Natural Landmark reviews
16So much could be solved by adding just 1 sentence to your website! If you only sell day-of tickets in the store, just say that! This wasted my time. Followed website instructions (which says to purchase in the gift shop - doesn’t say anything about the day-of rule), only to find out I can’t buy tickets the day before anyhow. Never a good start to precious limited vacation time. No reason for a business to make it this hard to spend money! Very disappointing.
Friendly staff and tour guide (Ashley), kids had so much fun, a very educational tour, two shuttle rides, and a boat ride. A bus ride is a little bit of a bumpy ride, but we all had fun. You'll be amazed at what you'll see inside. It's worth the drive and time!
Really big and beautiful caves! I didn't want to come outside, the air inside is so pure. The kids were very excited, even our 5yo wasn't tired at all after climbing those stairs- bunch of stairs inside. Boat shuttle was fun too! Then bus takes you high up the mountain, narrow road, I'm scared of heights so I kinda screamed The scenery on the top is cool, overviews Shasta lake. Next year we're back again hopefully!
Always drove past this place and never stopped till now - such a hidden and unknown things to do. Worth to stop and visit.
Easy to find and worth the 2 hours to tour. Pinky, the tour guide, was full of facts and very enthusiastic. The gift shop has great gifts and coffee with clean bathrooms. This is a wonderful family outing and they offer a military discount.
Friendly staff and tour guide (Ashley), kids had so much fun, very educational tour as well, two bus ride and a boat ride. A bus ride is a little bit of a bumpy ride, but we all had fun. You'll be amazed at what you'll see inside. It's worth the drive and time!
It's a real good time but be patient there's two bus rides and a boat ride but it's awesome to experience the whole thing and all the staff is very informational and can answer any questions you have and it's lots of fun for the kiddos.
One of the must have places, especially, if you have middle schoolers.
Keep in mind, there are good amount of stairs, so make sure to check it before go inside last part of 80 stairs room.cheers
Our tour guide was very informative. Unfortunately I forgot his name. The caverns alone were fun to explore and was simply amazing!
Love this place, and didn't expect to be FREE entrance fee, only for moms on Mother's Day
Fantastic tour and amazing your guide! Would highly recommend a stop out there just for the pleasurable personality of every staff member, new and recurring. My fiance and I took a road trip that ran through Redding CA, and we were interested in the caverns at Lake Shasta. It was well worth the trip and lots of fun.
Totally worth the visit! Get ready to climb lots of stairs. The visit begins with a boat ride, then bus all the way to the caverns, and then the climbing begins. Our tour guide was super informative and funny. A must for the whole family when visiting the area. I recommend packing a lunch since there is nice picnic tables available as you arrive.
Rock formation is awesome.once you entered the mountain you feel inside refrigerator.it has 800 stairs.not for all people to do this attraction
This was my third time visiting here, and I have loved it every time. It is sad to see the water level go down in the lake every time. Apart from that, the excursion in wonderful every time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can take a bus or hike down to the lake, After a short boat ride, you take a bus up to the caves and the driver will usually entertain you with interesting facts. And then you can do a tour of the caves.
Great place to take kids who can walk/hike by themselves. Toddlers/infants won't do well here, as it is dark and echos and they get uncomfortable. There are also a couple of hundred steps to climb, so it might be difficult for elderly folks too.
They provide an option to exit the tour early and wait outside before the really strenuous part of the tour, so that's a good option as well.
Tour guide, Ashley, was awesome! Really knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining. Even gave us a great lunch recommendation and told us things to do in the area afterward. The caverns were amazing. Be prepared for a lot of stairs, but well worth the climb. Great experience!
Really beautiful, and very big, cavern!
Ticket to go there is a bit on a pricey side, but you get to travel by boat and a bus to get there from the shop.
They take you on a walk through a number of caverns, talk about all there is to cave exploration, and even give a brief lesson of history of the area beside the cavern itself!
It can be rather slippery inside, so be careful - especially with your little ones.
The stairs inside are small, and it is quite steep! You can go just for a part and leave before entering the steep stairs if you don't feel like you can make it!
Parking space is quite big.
Keep in mind that last tour leaves at 4PM!
