Lake Tahoe Historical Museum reviews
2Great place to learn a lot about Lake Tahoe. Hours of operation are limited because of limited staff, but they are all very knowledgeable. Since it is free, please make sure to donate or buy a ton of books like I did.
This museum is absolutely amazing! They have a scavenger hunt for the kids! They follow the numbers around the museum and answer questions about the history of Lake Tahoe! My kids, 7 and 12, both enjoyed it! The museum has all different historical artifacts from a dental chair to skis to saws! There is history about all the families that had an impact on Lake Tahoe and what it has become today!
There is a house (only open on Saturdays) you can get a tour of that is set up like a family would have used it in the early 1900s!
There is a Toll House at the end that is being restored! It is one of the original toll houses used coming down towards the California coast!
The tour guides were very knowledgeable and kind!
