I loved this b&b! The staff was so kind. We loved sitting out by the fire at night. It’s in a perfect location.

Will definitely return! The lady at the front desk was very welcoming, the whole hotel is small but very comfortable. We stayed in the tree top room, loved it! Could see the ocean and hear the waves. Some of the windows actually open like blinds which was awesome but it does get pretty noisy in the morning due to being right above the breakfast area and where the common area is. The patio faces the opposite direction of the ocean, still a nice view. Very animal friendly which we appreciate!

We cannot say enough good things about Lamp Lighter Inn! We stayed there at the end of June for our wedding and had done a courtesy room block with many of our guests staying here as well. It was absolutely perfect and all of our guests loved Lamp Lighter and raved about it!

Because our guests were staying in all of the rooms I've seen them all and they are all equally charming, clean, and cozy. Some of them are a little larger with a living room space and private outdoor area and many have fireplaces. The main courtyard area is a great place to rest, hang out with friends, and we even used it as an event space for our rehearsal dinner! There are multiple seating options and outdoor fireplaces to enjoy.

The location is perfect for Carmel-by-the-Sea. You're right in the heart of everything with easy access to the beach and to town. Our guests loved being able to walk to both easily and get a little vacation while celebrating our wedding.

The staff, especially Olivia, truly went above and beyond for our wedding weekend. They had a handwritten card and bottle of sparkling wine in every room for the guests. Olivia was available to answer any & all questions both during the week and in the months leading up to our wedding. When I asked about hosting our rehearsal dinner in the courtyard Olivia was all hands on deck and enthusiastically said yes! Her and the other staff at Lamp Lighter took my vision for the rehearsal dinner and made it everything I could have wanted and more.

We had one room that was not booked by our wedding guests and Olivia left it open for us so that there wouldn't be anyone on site other than our guests, and even allowed us to use the room to do bridal hair and makeup in the day of the wedding.

I will forever sing the praises of Olivia and Lamp Lighter Inn and whenever we return to Carmel-by-the-Sea it will definitely be top of our list to stay! Incredible service, value, and adorable accommodations. Cannot recommend enough - for a weekend getaway or for a wedding room block!

This place is absolutely amazing! After spending several days here, I don’t think I would stay anywhere else. The rooms are quaint and extremely clean, the light breakfast is perfect to start your day, and the sitting area outside is beautifully done. The area is so safe, and we were able to leave the windows open all day and night with the perfect temperatures the area brings. Everything is a perfect walking distance - we never used our car unless traveling out of the town. Owners and workers as well as other guests were extremely nice and fun to visit with. No need to look any further!

What a beautifull place, and a friendly owner, it was a very good place to be. And thanks for the bottle of wine!

Love the location of this quaint hotel - so close to the ocean and to town. Most rooms have a wood burning fireplace which is fun, and there are charming sitting areas outside with gas fires to keep you cozy. Each room is like its own cottage and there is breakfast included which has the most delicious pastries, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and fresh fruit. Parking is also available on site, and it is very pet friendly.

We really enjoyed our stay at Lamp Lighter Inn (we stayed in the Tree Top House room). The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we loved our little deck. The outdoors common area was lovely, and we had a good time sitting next to the fire tables. The staff was friendly and accommodating (they lent us a HDMI cable so we could watch videos from our computer on the TV). However, the rooms did not keep noise out well at all, and since we were right above the breakfast room, we were woken as soon as they started working on breakfast. The breakfast definitely could have been better - it was continental-style, but even so, a few more options would have been nice. Our shower, though nice, was quite small. But overall, we had a lovely stay and would stay here again.

In town on Ocean Avenue, three blocks from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Cute, clean, cottage style rooms. Out door fire pits, breakfast included.

We staying in Katydid - 1 couple. It was a perfect room for us - quaint but clean and updated nicely. Shared a wall with the next room, but no one above or below. Common area for drinks or breakfast was nice and comfortable. Can't beat the location. Everyone was so friendly, kind, and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!

Our stay was for a girls trip. We reserved 6 rooms. All of them were very clean and adorable. The Continental breakfast was perfect. The covered fire pits were wonderful. All staff were wonderfully helpful and friendly. The resident cat made an appearance. Even the other guests were friendly. We’re already planning a spring trip and we will return to the Lamp Lighter Inn.

This place was AMAZING. First off, Olivia was above and beyond helpful every step of the way. We blocked this as one of the hotels for our wedding and she blew it out of the water. From little gifts for members of the wedding party to the coffee and pastries every morning, not sure you'll find a hotel with better service. I stayed in the Concourse Suite which was also the room where all the groomsmen got ready and it was exactly what we needed. Olivia even offered to be available in case anyone missed the shuttle to the wedding (Pebble Beach) saying she would drive them personally.

Absolute top notch service with the idealistic Carmel-by-the-Sea setting. Perfect!

We absolutely loved this hotel! The staff are SO friendly and helpful! Our room was beautiful and we felt so safe. I loved how quaint and small it was. It's also centrally located so you can walk to restaurants, shops or even the beach. We also loved the hotel kitty named shadow, miss her already! Overall, great experience and we will be coming back:)

The room wasn’t clean-especially the bathroom floor as well as the bedding. We had to ask for a roll of toilet paper. The coffee machine didn’t work. There were no coffee packets anyway-just tea. There was a fridge and microwave which was nice to have in the room. The person who checked us in was unpleasant and the person who checked us out was unable to provide a hard copy of the receipt. She said it would be emailed, but it wasn’t until I called three hours later. The prices were good-good location to the beach, restaurants and shopping. This place is just ok. I won’t stay again.

Very peaceful, , so friendly personal, so helpful on everything Smiling faces, the room is clean and very cozy, ,, I love it very much.

The room was beautiful and cozy. The grounds had various sitting areas set up for all group sizes. Great breakfast setup in the patio area with a 4 block walk to the pet friendly beach! Can’t wait to stay again!

A perfect home away from home in a fantastic location (only a block or two away from downtown Carmel or the beach). Every stay is unique because every room is unique and we love the little touches - like the wood fireplaces and the bottle of sherry in your room. And Shadow, the hotel cat, stopping by for some pets. You don't just feel like a patron, you feel like a part of the family.

Everything great except for the disappointment of not offering breakfast or wine happy hour due to COVID. Surprised there is no creativity so we didn’t get any wine or breakfast in the room since it’s supposed to be a “breakfast included” inn

A few things annoyed me about this place. We got a room that had a king bed and a twin. We have a 4 year old and a 6 year old and the 4 year old slept in bed with us. They charged an extra $30/night for an "extra person". I left my charger and we called the next day to see if they could mail it to us. They said "Sure, we'll look among the 500 chargers that were left behind". We never heard back. How about just look in the specific room and the specific outlet that we mentioned?

The location is really good. In our room we had a strong smell of cigarette smoke at various times. I'm not sure if maybe the room below us allowed smoking or someone was smoking illegally. The water pressure in the shower was pretty weak.
