Leigh is an excellent teacher—kind but firm, with a serious focus on sound technique. She gives thoroughly enjoyable, effective classes at a range of levels. Definitely recommend for dancers at all levels, but adult beginners in particular may find her all-adult program more approachable and effective than a program where adult classes exist only as an adjunct to children's classes.

Leigh Purtill is a great ballet teacher. I’ve taken classes with her for almost 10 years after a 25 year absence from ballet. For me it was starting over and I was fortunate to re-start my ballet journey with Leigh. She is great at demystifying the art form for new comers while challenging experienced dancers. Most importantly, Leigh’s approach towards ballet is both serious and kind.

Leigh creates such a welcoming and enjoyable environment for her students regardless of their skill level! And she really believes in the potential in every one of her adult students. If you’re coming back to ballet or starting for the first time, there’s no better place to go!

I highly recommend Leigh Purtill Ballet! She has classes for all skill levels. If you are a total noob you will love her. She presents class material and knowledge in a friendly, fun and approachable way. If you are more advanced, you will love her. She provides challenging but artistically rewarding combinations that are sure to push you and help you grow as a dancer. The corrections she has given me in class are always so helpful and insightful and pinpoint exactly the things I need to work on in order to improve. Give Leigh a chance. You won’t regret it!

I have been taking classes with Leigh for the last 11 years. I started as a beginner ballet student. I didn't get the opportunity to dance ballet as a kid and fell in love with it later in life. I have had so many amazing opportunities with Leigh - from performing on stage to learning pointe to performing on stage on pointe! She really listens to her students and helps create a wonderful environment to grow and reach your goals. She's also wonderful at creating fun combinations across the center that get you really moving.

When I first came across reviews for Leigh's classes I was apprehensive about making the drive to the studios. I was living in WLA at the time and it seemed like such a long trek. Plus being a complete newbie, I had my reservations. I was worried about how difficult the class might be and how much I might embarrass myself. I was wrong on all counts. I finally took the plunge and just went to the classes. I am so glad I did!

There is something for all levels with Leigh. I will always consider myself a beginner ballet student and I love her beginner classes. I always feel so solid in my technique afterwards. For more of a challenge in connecting and learning more advanced steps, Leigh's Intermediate is fantastic and not intimidating.

One of the best ballet teachers I have ever had! She creates a welcoming and accepting community for all and provides exciting performance opportunities. She has taught me so much, and I have really grown by taking her classes/participating in performances. She is so supportive and truly cares about her students. Getting back into the studio was a big decision for me, and I immediately felt welcome in Leigh’s class. She has a great understanding of what pieces of technique to focus on while including all level of students. I couldn’t be happier to start dancing again under her instruction.
