Les Amis - Salon et Spa, San Mateo CA

Unfortunately, some of the staff at this salon no longer live up to it’s name “Les Amis”.
In my experience, it has become an unfriendly place. I don’t recommend this salon.

As someone who gets her haircut MAYBE once a year (due to a history of horrific haircuts) I can say I'll absolutely be returning to Les Amis (probably more than once a year). I went in wanting a lob, envisioning a cut shorter than I've ever had, and Jackie absolutely nailed it.

Have had my hair cut here a few times. Most recently when I arrived for my appointment I was informed that they do not cut men's hair and did not have anyone who was willing / able to. I had to reason with them in order to not be charged a cancellation fee, despite them being the ones who cancelled upon my arrival. Unfortunate.

Update 8/23/2023: The owner of the business called my personal number ranting and claiming my review was libelous and defamatory. He insisted that I remove my review or henceforth be banned from the salon. I believe this review should remain for posterity.

I’m really happy with my highlight and haircut by Katelyn, she really understood what I wanted and I enjoyed our appointment. I like that the salon allows to to book everything online yourself, and gives you a straightforward breakdown of prices.

Wonderful job by Renata. I came in to fix a badly done highlights job done by another salon. Renata did a toner for me, checked it, asked if I would like it darker, and did another round of toner and wash for me. She was patient and kind, and fixed my bad highlights. Would go back again.

I've been going to Debra for years. Always a great result, and I like the bumble products and the additional training that the stylists can get. Great place!

I saw Angie for a much needed hair cut. She listened to what I wanted and had great communication every step of the way. Salon itself was clean and welcoming. Will definitely be back in the future.

Maria was absolutely wonderful! Not only did she do an amazing job on my hair, she listened to what I wanted and also provided suggestions. So many hairstylists I have seen in the past don’t give feedback which is hard when you are looking for advice in how to best handle your hair. Maria was exactly what I was looking for! Will definitely be returning.

The salon overall was super clean and had a nice vibe. I was one of the last appointments of the day so it was pretty quiet when I was there.

On a journey to find a new salon. This was my 6th salon and the best. Daniela listened to what I wanted and proceeded to do just that. Cut and color was beautiful. Great job. I am so pleased. I will definitely go back (and made my next appointment as I was leaving).

This salon is great! Daniela was my hair stylist. I showed her an inspiration photo and she did a wonderful job emulating it and customizing it for me. She talked me through her process as she was doing my hair cut and checking in to make sure I was happy with everything, which I appreciated. Check-in process at the front desk was easy and parking was plentiful on a weekday morning (not sure what it would be like when it's meal time or the weekend).

Such a really cute, bright salon! Samantha was my stylist and she cut my hair exactly how I asked! I will definitely come back in the future!

My Hairstylist/colorist is Renata. I am very satisfied with her work her professionalism and best satisfaction is when I get compliments from other people which means they are her great work. I took me long time to finding her and trying other hairstylist but now I am
all set.

Highly recommend. This place really puts effort and money into training their hair dressers and using high quality products (especially their coloring). Jocelyn is particularly skilled and friendly and now cuts the whole family's hair.

My experience there was so lovely:) I hadn’t had a haircut in a few years (and was tricked by YouTube into thinking I could cut my own bangs during Covid) so I was ready for a proper haircut. I definitely went to the right place! My stylist was Angie and she was just amazing! Professional, very knowledgeable and welcoming:) Beautiful salon itself with highly skilled people! I’ll be going back for sure:)
