Lexura Service Center reviews
9Got my car towed here after it broke down, and although they were not able to repair the car, they were incredibly helpful in getting it towed to a dealership and communicating what issues they looked at. They didn't even charge for the repairs they did attempt or the towing. It's such a breath of fresh air to find a car shop run by genuine and kind people who are not just trying to rip you off. They are a bit difficult to get ahold of, but they do promptly call you back when they have more information to share.
Almost $80 for an oil change and doesn’t really answer basic questions unless you are Asian and speak their dialect. Trying to pretty much shoo away if you aren’t part of their clan. Disappointed.
I am sad to give this 1 star rating, but unfortunately after taking our honda van to Alan for over 15 years, the last service was a complete disappointment. I took it in to have the oil changed and asked Alan to check everything and fix whatever was required since my daughter was going to take the van to college. I spent over $2K getting the timing belt, power steering belt, water pump, etc.replaced. After driving off the lot my daughter noticed that the steering was a little stiff and when she got home, we noticed some drippings on the floor. We thought since we just had the oil change, some excess may have spilt and didn't think much of it. We did try to call several times, but he never answers the phone and you can't leave a message either.
The only way to get a hold of him is to go to the shop. After 1 week, the leak continued and the steering was still stiff so I took the car back in. Alan diagnosed it as a faulty power steering pump, and I asked could this have been damaged when they replaced the power steering belt, and he became super defensive stating that the car is old and things could break at any time. He then told me that it would cost an additional $400, which I paid him to do. Unfortunately, it has only been a month and the check engine light came on. Not sure if they had broken something else or whether all of the sudden a reliable car that we have had suddenly began to have issues. After 15 years of going to this guy to service and repair my van, I am disappointed to say that we will not be going back or recommend him to anyone else.
The type of mechanic that will tell you "you don't need to replace that yet", or "make the dealer do it under warranty", or "I can just zip tie that plastic thing together for you instead of charging you to replace it", instead of just looking at you like a pile of cash. Will explain the issue and provide options. Can't say enough good things. The only critique is that it can be difficult to get them on the phone (as it's essentially the 1 main mechanic running the whole shop). Doesn't deter me at all from choosing them every time, however.
I will legitimately struggle to ever upgrade to a Make/Model they don't service.
Edit 2 years later: We just moved out of the area and Lexura helped ensure our cars were ready for the road trip. Will seriously miss having this place near by. I might have to call for advice down the line lol.
Ever since moving here from Michigan, I’d been looking for a trust worthy auto shop to take care of my Lexus RX350. I can hands down say that Alan deserves all the praise he receives. He’s genuine, careful, and communicative. He doesn’t up sell you on things or services that you DONT need. He keeps it honest with his opinions and is always willing to give you a referral elsewhere if he cannot perform the service himself. All in all I know I’m in good hands and will never need to look for another mechanic.
Alan is the best, really. He is very technical - he has a great understanding of how cars work and what could be wrong. Most importantly, he is trustworthy and reasonable compared to other repair facilities. I've been going to him for 10 years and will continue to do so.
Great service. I've been a customer since he's been opened. Allan truly knows his cars and only recommended what was needed for my Lexus GS 350. I had an alternator failure and had to have my car towed in. Also thought I needed front brakes with the squeaky noises. Allan says brakes are still good but recommended 150k service which we accepted. My Lexus runs great now.
My only issue is that Allan is so busy he doesn't answer phone calls hence the four stars. Also he services his own Mazda Miata but won't service clients who own them. Guess that would be another business for him and spread him too thin.
Alan knows what he is doing and is sensible and practical, Beside being a really good guy.
I went to the shop today. I drove over 25 mile each way and reached there around 9am. But I was disappointed that Alan works on such an outmoded business model that I can only drop off my car and let it be checked over 1-2 days. I have no doubt about how good and honest he is, but this business model just doesn't work for me! I can only rate the service center 3-1/2 stars. I wrote this review so others are aware of his policy. Anyway, after returning from Lexura, my neighborhood AM/PM mechanic fixed my car within an hours.
