Lightning Joe's Guitar Heaven, Arroyo Grande CA

Did some work on one of my old martins. Sounds and plays great again. 50 bucks well spent. Great shop. Great gear. Great folks.

This shop was well worth the 2.5-hour drive from the Monterey Bay area. We got immediate maintenance (neck adjustment + restringing) on our old guitars, and the work has lasted well since our visit in Jan '23. Plus it was a fantastic place to test drive and buy a guitar - lots of space to sit and play undisturbed, and what a selection! Check out the stickers on the wall downstairs. Hilarious. Joe and his family treated us like royalty, staying past closing so I could make my purchase decision. We highly recommend this place.

What a great store and staff! Zipped in while out of town to get my guitar restrung, I forgot my spare strings and tools. But no worries, they took great care of me. And oh my goodness, what a selection of beautiful guitars! Highly recommend!

Cool shop with a decent selection (as long as ukes, mandolins, and guitars are what you are looking for!) I was seriously in danger of walking out with (yet another) resonator guitar. And I'm not sure that danger has completely disappeared.

The prices are good for some things, a little marked up for others. But nice layout, selection, and service, and it feels good to support a smaller, local business.

Went into the shop today and found that they were very busy. That didn't stop Joe from immediately addressing the issue with my custom made ukulele. What a sigh of relief when he started in working on this very special uke. It took him no time to sort things out and I was on my way. When he told me how much it was going to cost, I was taken aback. I was more than happy to pay twice what he asked for. Someone with his knowledge and experience would have been justified in charging much more. He made my day!

Amazing service, they have fixed, setup and cleaned many of my guitars in a fast and reliable manner. Lightning Joe's is my go to place for anything concerning guitars!

I contacted Lighting Joe's via email and told them I was looking for a classical/electric guitar with a cutaway, not a very popular type or guitar. They emailed me back the next day and said they had several options. I mentioned that I was coming up from AZ. When I walked into the store and told them who I was I got the first class treatment. Marelene escorted me up stairs and showed me several choices and I found exactly what I wanted. While playing the guitar through an amp it was popping and cracking. We went in for a guitar case for my wife's Martin guitar that her father played. They were very helpful and had one that fit perfectly. It's a happy guitar now.

I USED to deal with the Guitar chain store. But after taking my new guitar in to get it set up by Joe, I am happy I did! What a down to earth guy he is. Made me feel like I was the only one their! The staff was really friendly and made me feel welcome. I like the fact that there higher end guitars were pristine and not handled. Putting out that kind of coin you don't want a demo model. Again NOT like the guitar store chain! Lightning Joe's Rocks!
