Little Sheep Mongolian Hot Pot, San Mateo reviews
27 Great for large parties. Food is great. I recommend the sesame paste and garlic in sesame oil sauces. Try all the lambs. Avoid the garlic beef and cucumber salad, both are too sweet.
As for vegetables, tonghao, Napa cabbage, watercress, and sweet pea sprouts are my favorites! Be careful not to overboil the vegetables!
Good selection of meats and vegetables. Meats were cut thinly and tasted great! The vegetables were all fresh and came in reasonable portions. The only problem we had with the place are the service was very, very slow and only got slower after our initial order. We had to flag the waiter down multiple times while they were hanging out by the bar.
Service here SUCKED! Food was alright, but the service was absolutely horrendous. I most likely won't come again unless they've hired more servers and improved the service.
Staff is friendly, and the waiting area has some snacks for guests (so it's a plus). But quality is way overrated, and food is overpriced. For 3 of us (1 guy and 2 women) we spent over $100. With this amount you can easily get all-you-can-eat hotpot.
Since we last visited, they have added new "combo specials" that allow you to now order variety without purchasing big dishes! Between my husband and me, we ordered two specials and got to try 10 different dishes, it was amazing! Classic fishball with roe, Napa cabbage, fried fish fillet, meatballs, noodles, two types of tofu, enoki mushrooms, plus your choice of meat (I had lamb, hubby had prime angus)! Each combo specials is $12.99 plus $3.95 for soup base between the two.
A la carte, not all you can eat which I liked better. Fresh quality ramen and noodle selections. Greens are served generously portioned. Broths are well seasoned. Recommend it over other hot pot options in DTSM area.
The food quality and quantity are both acceptable for the price, ask the server if u are ordering to much. They were kind enough to point that out for us. The hot sake is truly heart warming. Recommend the house meatball sampler/combo
