Loard's Ice Cream reviews
13Always good ice cream & so many flavors! Traditionally options to enjoy in a cup or on a cake/waffle cone. Specialty candies avail also. Plenty inside seating available.
Was craving ice cream from an ice cream shop instead of Haagen Dasz from Safeway across the street. Heck, if I'm going to eat a big scoop of ice cream, I'd rather eat one "scoop" from a cup rather than feel guilty seeing half a tub of store bought ice cream gone. The ice cream is rich, gooey and has tiny ice crystals which give a slight crunch which is a tell tale sign of an old-fashioned recipe. The single scoop was decently priced around 5.00, but when I asked for just hot fudge on top of my mocha chip, the price soared to 7.00 (they call it a Saturday-one topping only!) The interior is sugary sweet with comfortable, likely re-done pink and white booths and old rusty pink and white heart-backed chairs which gives the place real 50's experience. The young woman gave me a nice sized scoop, but my friend noticed that the older lady was stingier with the size of the scoop. I'd keep the scoops big and whitewash the chair backs.
I'll never come back to this Loards ice cream shop. They give the stingiest portions than any Loards I've ever been to (super small portions) and I've been to many Loards in the Bay Area. Got a sundae and it had a tiny dollop of whip cream and not much fudge. Barely a sprinkle of nuts. LOL! Tell me, why are you being so cheap?
The server seemed not happy to work there. I asked the server for something additional and she said "it was too late" lol. She didn't want to do any extra work I'm guessing.
And the prices are high, but they want to short you on your ice cream? Come on, don't be cheap!
I'll take my money elsewhere, there are other places for ice cream. The other Loards locations are also good, just not this one. You would be more profitable as a business by keeping repeat customers than trying to save money by shorting the portions.
Got here at 8: 32pm asked for a banana split and the young lady said after 8: 30 they don't serve any specialty ice cream just scoops but they close at 9pm? Oh its so you can clean? Doesn't that start when you close? At 9PM!? Lmaoo anywho got some Ben and Jerry's from safeway more than satisfied! Will take my business elsewhere
Their ice cream is the best I have had. I hope they expand to Elk Grove at some point in the future. The staff is always friendly and courteous.
Love it here. It's our first time, and the ice cream is so Delicious. Thank you, Loard's ice cream for this delicious experience. And the staff is wonderful, too.
Beautiful place, it looks fun and nostalgic. Came in for a couple shakes, asked for the "eat in" stainless old fashion cups, at 20$ for 2 shakes I'd expect that. I got some watery shake inside a paper cup served by the rudest old prude asian lady that absolutely hates her job and won't smile or listen to an instruction. I feel sorry for the owner of this nice place! What a letdown, first 1-star review. You gotta be really bad to get a 1 star from me.
Loard's ice cream is excellent! I spoke with one of the owners one time and Lourdes has a very high fat content which is what makes it delicious LOL!
I had mocha almond fudge with fudge and almonds over the top, can't beat it! Perfect end to a perfect outing! ️
I love Loard's Ice Cream, so when we were in the neighborhood and came across this one, we had to get some. Cute vibes with pastel pink walls. My little nieces would love coming here. They also sell little chocolates and other sweets. Other Loard's I've been to are more generous with their ice cream scoops. I also got a box of truffles that were on the pricier side. The truffles are HUGE. Such large chocolates that I can't finish in one sitting. I don't think the price of the truffle reflects the quality of ingredients, though, so I wouldn't pay for them again.
Have you ever heard the term Lip stick on a pig? Thats what this place is, it looks good when you enter but ultimately its just a facade. I don't like giving bad reveiws but they earned this one. First off, the ice cream is fine, but once again I've been reminded by their staff as to why I do NOT recommend coming here. I visited on a Saturday night @ 9: 20pm, on the door it says they close at 10. There was a large group of about 10 already served and enjoying their desserts that were served to them in plastic containers. I ordered one of their pre-set sundae menu items and was told " sorry to close to closing" and wouldn't allow me to order it. The only reason I could see you not wanting to serve me a sundae is if it was served in a glass dish and had walked in at 5 till closing. Not the case here. Unfortunately, the current owner who purchased this place has left it as - they have the same sun bleached faded pictures of once tasty treats that were served decades ago along with the decor and interior. They should have cha
They have no intentions of customer retention, they purposely under staff and cut corners everywhere they can. Perhaps the better business plan would have been, keep the customer service and change the décor.
Just as a recommendation, Knudsens family creamery is across the blvd. They actually
make their own ice cream, serve it in a dish and the staff won't cut you off 40minutes before closing.
The ice cream & service were great but $10 for a milkshake is ridiculous. Not to mention it wasn't even a large one. I'd just had a tooth pulled and needed something smooth, so I paid.
As a business owner I understand the cost of doing business. I also understand that a $10 milkshake would put them out of business if it were not for their location. I will be making my milkshakes at home from now on.
Ice cream and the lady at the counter was amazing. Line was out the door but she took her time and was very patient with everyone and for her working by herself she did an amazing job. Ice creams always good and the vibe is like a old school ice cream parlor
Their ice cream is very good. It's thick, very creamy. You might fill up on just one scoop. Their milkshakes are super good, give it a try next time.
