First day was not good. Thy didn't even get me xrays on the first day. They said I only need a cleaning. 2nd trip visit. Now they want me to get xrays instead of the first day. 3rd visit now they say I need a filling instead of telling me the first day. Now I had to go back next week for a filling and cleaning. I like doing everything all in one day instead of waiting month to month
I enjoy the dentist but I just want to do everything all in one day.

Very slow process. Very poor communication. I really didn't know what was scheduled next and how many appointments I had ahead of me. Couldn't find anyone to tell me the entire procedure beginning to end. I left after several appointments and the decision was good because they probably would have had at least a dozen more before my process would have been completed at that rate. However there are premises are absolutely first impressive and huge. And they are all pretty friendly and unable to tell me if the procedure I was requesting was going to be covered by my insurance and at the time they said yes and now others say no and Loma Linda if only we can meet again. Very busy parking lot. Great campus.

AN EXTRACTION OF DENIAL. IN THE FORM OF A TOOTH.

As I finally faced the need to extract a tooth that was infected with bacteria from a botched root canal performed in a Mexican dental clinic about a decade ago, I am taking a moment to reflect on how the dental urgent care and specialized dental clinics at Loma Linda University had saved me from very serious dental problems. These ordeals ranged from draining a massive abscess that could have infected my bloodstream and brain, all the way to the risky surgery of removing a dental tumor, identified as a supernumerae tooth (it looked like a coral!). This dental school has literally been the salvation of my health, as I battled various stresses with family, food, academia, fishing, and dental malpractice in Mexico and the United States.

I knew since 2017 that this crowned molar in my upper right mouth was a dead end, as the X-rays clearly showed an infection, in spite of a root canal treatment in Tijuana. When the crown fell off, I tried to glue it back on to the weak tooth structure with dental cement I bought from Ebay England (it was illegal to purchase in the US at the time). I avoided chewing on the right side of my mouth, as I attempted to keep the tooth as long as I could. Though, I became increasingly stressed about retaining this tooth due to the known bacterial infection.

Alas, after five years of playing this shaky game, the crown and underlying tooth structure failed this past Saturday morning, and I remained calm the whole weekend, knowing that I could go to Loma Linda Dental Urgent Care on Monday morning, and they will accept various forms of insurance, including Medi-Cal!

The receptionist remembered me, even though I hadn't been to the clinic for over 5 years! At first they had no time slot available, but a senior student ended up making herself available to help me out. I kind of got to be her patient and dental assistant at the same time; I was responsible for holding a couple tools she was frequently using! I feel very safe being treated in a communal dental clinic: the students are generally cautious, mindful, and learning from each other; and the faculty are overseeing their work, and even intervene in situations where students fall short of experience in  handling the situation, such as this tooth extraction. The senior student was adamant about numbing me up, but quite timid in prying out my tooth. Then this burly and boisterous older faculty stepped in and charismatically wrangled my mouth for five or so minutes until the tooth finally slipped out. It was like trying to uproot a stubborn tree that had been growing in the yard for 50 years. The scene was like the bloody decks of reeling in a tuna out from the sea, except it was my bloody mouth instead; and the faculty gave me the fist bump and said I did well and was strong for enduring this extraction.

My thoughts dipped into a deep sadness from finally losing this tooth, and the many traumas that led to its loss; but my former wall of denial shifted into hope, in terms of bone healing from the prolonged infection, along with the prospects of a bridge, a temporary denture, and/or bone grafting for an eventual implant. I didn't have this kind of hope 5 years ago, and I am sooo stoked that Loma Linda has facilitated my healing journey and hope toward an affordable path of dental health!

Absolutely horrid place. You will certainly be over-charged if you seek treatment at this establishment. If the students don’t make enough money off of you, they get in trouble, so you end up paying for it.

If you can get anyone on the phone make sure you don’t let them go! It is so hard to get a hold of anyone here at the school of dentistry. Also the people who are scheduling your appointment don’t care about your personal life or what things you set up. I was told I was going to have a surgery in October and then got a phone call stating that my surgery was moved to an earlier date in September. Got a ride to the school of dentistry so somebody could drive me back called off of work for the week so I could recover just to find out that they’re not even doing the surgery they’re just doing a screening. I was hoping that this one star review would wake up the staff here at the school of dentistry but I can see several people have already attempted this and are having the same issues. If you could afford to go somewhere else I highly recommend it.

Very poor customer service. Expect to be on hold forever only to be transferred then on hold again. Also make sure you know what will happen id you ever get appointment. We drove 85 miles for a screening and did not get teeth cleaning we made the appt for.

I had a successful dental implant done through the school. But then years later I developed a potential complication which needed to be checked out. After getting a referral to go back to the school to see if they could correct or discover the problem I was told they would not see Me even for a check up until mid August for over six weeks from now. Their customer service was less than stellar it made me feel like I wasn't worth the Time or hassle. Like they just didn't care. I'm not sure why they think it's appropriate to treat their patients so poorly or that they just expect you to live in pain for over six weeks! I'd recommend going somewhere else especially if you can afford it.

Thank you for taking care of my baby very good the only thing I disliked about my experience was they don’t allow another person to be with you and your child, they have them wait outside in the blazing heat and only allow two parents with special needs kids i get it, but there’s plenty of room, allow two adults with the children not just one

My tooth removed here and ended up getting infected after finding that there was still a leftover fragment came back and was put through so many runarounds they didn't do anything for me and I left with a pack of ibuprofen that gave me from their desk went to another dentist found out that my tooth was infected and where the tooth was removed there was still a piece of fragment left in there that caused the infection and the infection spread to the rest of my mouth where I was in severe pain where I can't sleep for 3 days I don't recommend this place it should be free at the end of the day because they're getting patients for their students and both the patients and the students are paying this place is a racket and a scam

Most unprofessional group I've ever dealt with. I have had 3 visits. #1, #2 full exam of mouth then I was told I needed higher level of care and I would get a call in a month to a month and a half. I never recieved that call
I began to have severe pain with eating on both lower parts of my teeth. I called they said they did not have an appointment available in the clinic I was referred to until after January (now November). I asked if I could see anyone due to terrible pain and difficulty eating. I was given an Urgent Care appointment. What an absolute joke. At the urgent care appointment they took xrays that had already been done and poked at my teeth. They ran several tests that had already been done. They then stated I would need to see another clinic to have any work done. Urgent Care is a waste if they don't do any actual treatment. I called and filed a complaint as soon as I got home.

If I could give 0 or negative stars, I would. It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to make an appointment. Every time I called, it was a different excuse. Said they had my name and number to give me a call, and after a week, they never did.

Such horrible customer service, that I’ve requested to be seen by another oral surgeon/office. Don’t waste your time here.

We started out on a roll, and then somehow we got lost in translation. I ended in the same boat as prior to going there. I had such high hopes, and then the threw me for a loop. I had to pay 3thousand dollars for another set of dentures and the same out come. Only left to wear my uppers, never ever able to wear lowers (useless about of money again for the same result) I still haven't heard from that department again. And I am able to pay cash too.

Yes, attempting to deal with their customer service folks by phone can very frequently be daunting. On the plus side, I've been driving here from Palm Springs for three years because the treatments that I've received from five different fourth year students has always been most excellent! The supervising doctors have been most courteous and helpful.
I must single out graduating student Eric Swenson for his wonderful chairside manner and most impressive attention to detail and ensuring his patient is comfortable. I continue to come here because my overall experience has been excellent. Highly recommend for all of your dental needs!

Unprofessional service. Good luck trying to make an appointment.

First, they requested a fax referral. Done. Then they said I would get a call back. Never happened. After following up with them because they never called back they claim that particular dentistry department was closed for the day. Called the week after, just to be told they no longer accept new patients. It would have been greatly appreciated to have been told that in the first place instead of been given the run-around. Sounds like they don't communicate among themselves. Glad I am not taking my son there after all. Requesting a new referral and hopefully to one that is more professional and knowledgeable about their schedules.

This place is an absolute joke. They text me AND call me back to back to make sure I'm waiting by my phone for an appointment which is an emergency for my elderly dad. I sit with my phone in hand for an hour just so I don't miss the call. 20 min passes my appointment. So now I'm calling them just so they can tell me they called me two times. Not a missed call NOTHING! They sure didn't have an issue reaching me the day before. Sounds like whomever the student was that they are taking his words as holy gospel that he called me, he doesn't want to work on old people perhaps. Now they are telling me I have to reschedule after I was sitting here on time waiting by my phone. Now my dad has to wait that much longer with two cracked teeth. This place is rediculous. Now I'm sure they will insist on my dad jumping thru a million other hoops just to get in. Our dental and medical system in this country is pathetic.
