Very unprofessional staff starting with the administration. The employees gossip among one another and are slow to work. Very uncomfortable place to be. The AV needs more DPSS locations and need to teach their employees how to respect others.

I’m on disability and will never be able to work. I live with my elderly father and have an 8 year old child. They discontinued my cash aid/child support (MY CHILDS MONEY) after I provided everything they asked for. I upload the proof/documents several times and still get told they don’t have what they asked for. I filled out and submitted my recertification form online OVER A MONTH AGO and I still got told that I didn’t do it and they don’t have it. I get told I missed my interview when I’m not the one who’s supposed to be calling anybody. The letter clearly says they will be calling me at a specific time on a specific day and to make sure my number is correct and I have call blocking turned off so their call will go through. Guess what? They never call! And when I try to call them, I end up being on the phone and on hold all day until their office closes and I get absolutely nowhere. Every single year for 8 years now it’s nothing but the same incompetence and frustration. My benefits are discontinued every single year even though I do EVERYTHING. My father has nothing to do with my daughter’s cash aid case, his name ain’t on it, but they discontinued it apparently because I don’t keep my food locked up separately and I feed my ELDERLY father who doesn’t cook or shop on his own anymore. I do all the shopping and cooking here. I don’t know what kind of family or household these people come from but when I cook in my house, I feed everybody who’s in it. Then they want to deduct benefits from us if a family member has to help with food or money in the middle of the month so we get even less food and money and struggle more the next month. But we can’t ask for help? Make it make sense! I guess I’m supposed to just let my kid go hungry until that whopping $23 hits…what a joke. I can’t wait until my daughter turns 18 and I no longer have to deal with these people.

Bad customer service came in Today for help and I got the rudest rep I ever met, once I went to talk to a supervisor to help Isat down and I over heard her talking bad about me to another co worker in windows 8-9

I usually talk to people with the utmost respect and understand that people may not be having a good day, but less than 15 minutes on the line with some guy and he cuts me off mid conversation. His attitude and his demeanor on the phone was very rude. No greeting, no introduction on his name, just dull. Blank. No enthusiasm. It’s my first time applying for benefits and instead of listening to my situation and trying to better understand, he insisted that I “should’ve” gotten notice from my county. LA County needs to do better at hiring people who are passionate about their jobs otherwise don’t work in a field that requires you to serve your community and make a difference. Disappointed with the lack of care this individual gave off. People like him are examples of what not to be when working in field that requires you to talk to people on a daily basis.
