Lucha Libre Taco Shop reviews
16Low quality ingredients combined with bad cooking. The soggiest french fries in a burrito I've ever had. I enjoyed it a while ago, but no one else I know likes lucha lubre. I understand now.
If the Bulgogi burrito is on the menu, YOU BETTER GET IT! I got it with no cheese and it was FANTASTIC. So much flavor, not spicy, it’s definitely ruined California burritos for me. All I want is this burrito!
Also, staff is so kind and hospitable. Great vibe and artwork in here, too. PLEASE DONT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE!
This is the second time I come here and I’m disappointed by their California burrito. They charge $15 for it, they add very little stake, it’s very dry as it is mostly fries in the burrito.
Their salsas were also all watered down and flavor less.
I used to go to the one on Washington as good was consistent but not anymore.
Will not be coming back.
Had a birria quesa taco and mahi taco, absolutely delicious. Salsa bar had very delicious options. Chips were given to us immediately, but tasted rancid, frying oil might need some changing.
Struggle to write this bc 8 years ago my favorite part of the trip was getting the best burrito I’ve ever had at a different lucha lebre location. Brought my family today and when we went in, no one was in there. Stood around for a couple minutes and then we left. Not sure if staff were even there.
Actually bought a ice cream bar my wife was very happy with it. I was hoping for a lime one no luck
We stopped here because of the great reviews. I don't think a lot of those reviews have ever had real mexican food or at least good mexican food to rate it this high.
We got the birria nachos (sounds amazing right?) well the cheese was maybe mozzarella, which, why? It was just hardened cheese instead of nice melty cheese. The birria was a bit dry, it didn't have enough consome or cilantro or onions. We also had the quesadilla with the green sauce. The chicken tasted like nothing, no seasoning, the green sauce was ok, the cheese again was mozzarella? They can use oaxaca or manchego or anything else. If feels like carne asada would have been a better choice than chicken for that dish. We didn't ended up eating most of our food, and we left dissapointed.
Honestly the staff was very nice and it's not their fault, it just fell very short on expecations. It seems pricey for food that has very little flavour. It seems like something a college kid would come up with and then call it mexican inspired food. I knew it wasn't going to be authentic but I was at least expecting it to taste better than it did. It was just overall dissapointing. They need better quality ingredients. The salsas were OK, one was just spicy but not flavorful, the other one was better but not the best.
The seats and floor seemed a bit dirty and the decoration was fun but again I think we could have gotten better food somewhere else.
If you like mexican-inspired american food and prefer mild taste this might be the place for you. Maybe reconsider if you prefer more flavorful food.
First time eating at Lucha Libre and they didn’t disappoint. Ordered the Ado-Haba California, Birria California, and the Surfin’ California. The Ado-Haba had a nice sweetness to it from the grilled pineapple. The birria had a nice kick as well. Highly recommend putting the creamy cilantro sauce on the burritos. Will be coming back again!
San Diego Resident here! I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE this place but it's since lost it's lust in a lot of different ways unfortunately. I'm sad to say, but this has now become an affliction I can't do anymore. The shrimp and steak in the Surfin' California lost it's original quality. It's now chewy pieces of beef and small little baby shrimps from what used to be tender pieces of beef and bigger shrimp. My preferences have since moved on to places like Mike's Taco Shop and La Perla now. Until we see better quality and lower prices - lucha libre taco shop es libre de la vida mia. Hasta luego amigo viejo y espero que te mejores.
We reserved the golden table or the champions table! We didn't know too much about what it was or what it meant. We figured it was just a better-looking table! The moment of entry! The golden table really stands out! The wall is decorated with a lot of old school luchadores and lucha Libre memorabilia! As a fan, you would enjoy looking at the wall and many framed pictures they have! The food is brought to you. The service was great and really made you feel like they were treating you like the Champs of the restaurant! I ordered the Birria queso tacos, and they were pretty excellent and a lot of juice I would defny recommend trying the Champs table even if it's just one person dining in! *parking is a bit tough* my group was 3 adults and 1 kid. Our price total was around 55 bucks, not bad for place with such great atmosphere
Can I do Zero stars? We ordered online and and picked up our order within about 10 minutes. However, that's where is went down hill. Walked in and BAM - the restaurant smelled like sewer and dirty mop water. If I had been intending to dine in, I would have left immediately. The food itself was bad quality. The tortilla chips tasted like seafood. I'm sure they use the same cooking oil for everything. The rice was literally the worst, a soggy ball of grossness. We basically threw the food away. Out $35 for two burritos. Don't waste your time or money.
Being from Texas, this is our 3rd time in 10 years. It’s pretty consistent. Fast service and fresh food. Great salsa bar.
You go to a food stop for the food, not the atmosphere. Luckily, this place has both.
Food is delicious, absolutely beyond reasoning. Love the luchador memorabilia and photos everywhere. Service was quick and accurate and friendly.
If you haven't come here before, trust me, it's a must.
Food was great! The lights were flickering the whole time we were there. Service was great, and the staff was kind. The Mexican wrestling theme was so fun! The Suplex Quesadilla was great, super cheesy!
Overall a very great Mexican place with great food, a great atmosphere, and great staff!
Worst experience I have had at a taco shop. Food is over price and no near the quality of the taco shop. Service is a could care less attitude toward customers satisfaction. Not sure what all the hype is for this place.
TBH I only came here to try the tacos and salsa. I ordered the steak, adobada, and birria tacos with a side of horchata drink. My favorite was the adobada tacos. It has great flavor and none of the tacos were oily. They all had good portion of meat.i only saw one staff and one cook. She had a great customer service and was very attending. The place was clean which is also a +. I love that i can go to a taco shop where they actually have a legit decent salsa bar & they don't charge you extra! My favorite was the avocado cilantro creama.
I would recommend to go there on a weekday before 12pm when it's less busy.
As for parking, well it's on university ave.so parking is always difficult to find.
This review is only for the customer service and tacos.
