I'm sad to say that I will no longer come to Lucha Libre due to the decline in quality and flavor.

I've been a long time regular from before and through the pandemic and noticed each time there were issues with my favorite, the Surfin California burrito. For example, the burrito being cold, shrimp being scarce, or steak tasting burnt. But I kept returning, hoping that the previous experience was a 1 time fluke. Also I loved their cilantro sauce + free tortilla chips.

Even though the prices have gone up drastically, costing ~$17 for the burrito, I wouldn't mind if it was still the delicious burrito from the past.

I hit the breaking point this past weekend. Although there was plenty of shrimp in my Surfin CA burrito and it was pleasantly hot, the carne asada inside was super dry and tasted peppery. The burrito as a whole was lacking in flavor and I did not enjoy it one bit.

It's been hard coming to terms with losing one of my favorite surf and turf california burritos in San Diego, but Lucha Libre is no longer the noteworthy place of the past. I can't recommend it anymore.

No wonder the restaurant has been looking emptier and emptier on weekend nights.

Since the pandemic started, I've had to clean my own tables before sitting down.

The staff are super friendly.
There are a few parking spaces in the small attached free parking lot.

The place is awesome and the food is great but the prices have gotten to be ridiculous. $16.50 for one surf and turf burrito! Wow. Won’t be coming back anytime soon. Oh, and surf and turf at The Taco Stand is $5 cheaper.

Burritos are delicious! I appreciate them adding to their menu and keeping the more classic flavors. Milkshakes are divinely delicious

Fantastic burritos and tacos.

The Mexican wrestling motif inside isn't my cup of tea.

Came here yesterday for a late night snack as dinner is extremely late for me where I work. I can say the quality doesn’t change but truly only gets better every time I come here. One of my favorite taco shops in all of San Diego. Had the Cali burrito add Guacamole and boy was it sure amazingly scrumptious. The price is the price, not even going to dabble into that too many factors outside of my control dictate that. The service and cleanliness was awesome! Everyone was nice and I truly love what the place looks like on the inside huge wrestling fan so I easily get sucked in. Overall I recommend for anyone who wants to try something a little different and see what the gimmick is all about, for my wrestling fans out there.

The food was good, but not amazing.

The selection was fairly small (not necessarily a bad thing) and consisted of a handful of tacos and burritos.

Frankly, there was nothing stand out or memorable about this place (other than the decor) ; I will probably only go again if it's convenient.

Blast from the past! We were here in 2011 and now back in 2023. Still great food. The only disappointment was NO MOLE Tacos. Que Lame.
But great Birria Taco and Surf and Turf Taco! The flavor was packed with a punch full of meet! I was slammed by the secret sauce on the turf taco. The beef was just a tad bit salty and dry. Just a little. Nothing a little salsa couldn’t choke out!
The staff was very friendly and of course. Rafael was super friendly and cool! He let me pick him up for a photo op. What a great time! Thanks Rafael!

The Surfing California Burrito is out of this world. Stop reading this review right now and go get one. Seriously. Wait. Are you still reading? Also get some of the green salsa with your chips. Now go. Review over

Grilled Shrimp burrito that guest with me had was better than average. The others definitely left alot to be desired. Birria should be moist if not dripping. This was more like your mom's overcooked, dried out pot roast she made in the slow cooker last week. Then added way too many potatoes to inside a tortilla.
Apparently they survive too much off the hype and tv notoriety as I have given it a shot 5 times now over several years and never walk out having them prove me otherwise despite giving them the opportunity to do so.

Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible, it's quite edible. Decent size burritos and meat is not low grade cuts used to begin with. There's just better options, JV's, Roberto's or El indo down the street.

Try it once I suppose and know yourself its not worth going out the way for.

This dining establishment offers a fantastic experience—the atmosphere is surreal and welcoming. The food is truly amazing, with the burrito shell expertly cooked to a light and crispy perfection (how do they achieve that?). The ingredients used are of top-notch quality, and there's even a delightful salsa bar. While some places may be rated five stars without delivering a true five-star experience, this place genuinely earns its high rating. For those with a vegan preference, I highly recommend opting for black beans in the burrito—it's truly outstanding. Well done, folks!

So much fun! Go for the kitschy atmosphere and have the tacos and tj corn. Hubby had the poblano burrito. It was huge! I had three tacos, the guy said they were small street tacos. Not! These are normal sized corn tortillas filled w yumminess. The abo hado taco is amazing!

Best California burrito in town!
Actually anywhere! They have a great menu with the basics and it is all good.
The atmosphere is fun and full of photos and history of Lucha Libre.
You got to check it out!

The service and atmosphere were awesome. The food fell a little short for me on taste. The nachos had a red sauce on it that was spicy and covered up the taste of the rest of the ingredients. The burrito was good but a little bland. That’s just me. The atmosphere and pictures on the wall was worth the visit.

We loved our tacos so much that we went back for seconds! When we mentioned that gluten free was needed they were very nice about it and made sure the food was safe! Great atmosphere, excellent for playing I Spy with kids.

Overpriced street tacos. Salsa bar was interesting 3/10, wouldn’t recommend $20 for two tacos and an aqua fresca (which was also not very tasty)
