Malabar Coast reviews
19 I tried parotta and egg curry. Both were delicious.
I have been here few times and food is always delicious. They recently updated and ambiance is now better for dine in experience.
I love Keralite cuisine and this place satisfies my appetite the best. Their parotta, kappa and curries make me return there every time I pass by. At the time of this review, they had renovated and improved the ambience. Btw, you won’t find most of their food variety in Indian restaurants nearby, making this place a treat for your wandering tastebuds.
An amazing new place for Malabari cuisine from India’s southern state of Kerala. Quick and friendly service.
We had the beef fry, appam, porotta and chicken curry. Every dish was well cooked, well spiced and fresh. The appams were soft and fluffy with that slight tang. The porottas were crispy and flaky. The chicken curry was the true winner. The beef fry was delicious too but we were a little underwhelmed by the spice. Maybe we were expecting more spice.
The place was clean and they had malayali songs playing in the background which added a nice authentic touch.
My only peeve was that the cost of the appam and paratta was slightly more for the quantity. They should have given two for the price they were charging for one. Also, rice should have been served with the curry as is practice in most desi restaurants.
Nevertheless I’m excited to go back and try more of their items.
Just had their beef fry that I took out from this place. Well, it’s more of a cumins fry. They’ve sprinkled cumins all over the beef and this makes it taste so horrible. Was a good place from my experience in the past, but now the food is below average. No wonder there was no one there either to dine in or pick up when I went there about 9.30pm.
"At Malabar Coast, the taste of Kerala truly shines! Authentic flavors, knowledgeable staff, and their must-try dishes like porotta, fish curry, chicken ullarthu, mutton pepper roast, chicken roast, and tantalizing Thalassery biryani make it a top choice. Highly recommended! "
Plastic. Just not comfortable how food is being served in plastic. (Paper is a far better option compared to plastic). Not aiding the environment or the food. The food tastes good but I will not return if they continue to serve in plastics.
Dropped by during a weekend and the place was completely empty which was surprising for the area. Mostly it appears to be a preferred Take out as the dining experience is basic and not any preferred service.
Food quality was above average while the service was good.
This place seem to limited to varieties of their own and not for all - there is nothing beyond parotta - no roti or healthier options to choose.
Take out might be ok if you are missing authentic Kerala dishes
Bought two items, I felt quality of food was low for one item and had to trash the food since it smelled bad.
The atmosphere and the service of the place was a bit disappointing. We decided to dine-it at the restaurant and were served the entrees in plastic bowls. The chairs were stacked up even at peak dinner time. The vibe and ambience of the place was quite dull. I would not recommend to dine in at the restaurant. The place is fine for pickup if you’re looking to try some Kerala cuisine.
The pricing of the food was reasonable.
Chicken Roast: 3.5/5
Beef Fry: 3/5

You get good Kerala food. I tried their parrota and beef roast with pallada payasam and sharbat. It was really good but I think they could be a little pricey. Nevertheless, decent ambiance and good service I must say!
Best mallu food in the Bay Area, and it's not even close. Ended up taking out a bunch of food after we had lunch, and all of it has been great! The chemeen masala, fish biryani, chicken roast, thallaseri biryani.all 5 stars. Having the egg curry and mango fish curry for dinner, expecting that to be mind blowing as well!
Pretty good food if you’re looking for kerala cuisine. The porotta and beef roast were particularly good. The place was a little run down.
This is not kerala style food. Porotta was dry and chicken 65 cannot even pass as regular chicken fry. Chinese style fried rice has frozen vegetables not even thawed properly. Diposable glass and spoon/ forks provided. Flavorless food.altogetther low quality food served in a not at all impressive interior restaurant.
Ordered kappa, chicken varatharachathu and parotta. Kappa was amazing. Chicken and parotta were average. Overall good place to visit for Kerala food.
Sometimes scary looking places have amazing food. We had a really kind server who made good suggestions on what to try as I have never had Kerala food. It was really well made, great tastes and very tender. The only dig was everything was served in take out containers with plastic cutlery. The one server was also confused on what we were ordering until the second really kind guy came. So the dine in experience is underwhelming but the food was worth it.
The food tastes good, but there are some issues for dine in due to lack of workers, It depends on the day you visit the store, Malabar mutton biriyani is a must try over here.
Food quality was bad. Chicken in curry was not even properly cooked (insides looked pink). Fish curry did not have flavor. Beef was chewy.
Amazing food! One of the most flavourful curries I’ve had in the US. 10/10 would recommend
