Mammoth Mountain Ski Area reviews
18I had an amazing time here riding the last 4 days of spring skiing until the Memorial Day closing. Met great people, partied at the Yodler German bar at the main lodge, great weather, bluebird sky days, such a blast!
A large, feature rich ski resort with clean facilities and plenty of service and friendly staff. Easily in the top 3 resorts in all of the United States.
Almost Forty Yeats ago in july 1983 i went skiing in the mammoth mountain the snow was like melting ice and the weather warm. On the top of the mountain we can saw Mono Lake.
That was so fantastic.
Great place to ski and ride. Mostly good skiers, but plenty of room for the beginners. Laid back atmosphere. Great runs. Just an awesome place to be.
Mammoth is huge and has snow when other sites don't. Sad part is the Canyon Lodge magic carpet is for ski-school only. I paid for a full ski-pass for my kids but they weren't allowed to practice on a beginner conveyor belt. What a bummer. Private, 3 hour, lessons were a bit expensive, $500 for a 9am lesson, $330 for a noon lesson. The snowpark lift "Unbound Express" is fast and perfectly located. Bummer about the snowparks is that there's no run with multiple consecutive medium kickers, so it's hard to practice one thing. Also, it feels like there's no easy snowpark, it's all expert level plus.
California skiing is defined here. Well worth the drive past other ski locations. Mammoth has a great mountain, fun intermediates, challenging, and not so challenging, advanced runs, and a good village scene even with covid protocols. Always a good time.
Such a wide variety of terrain and directional faces. Wind blown pow in the spring on the bowls off the summit, chase the sun and for some warm spring snow, epic pow days. Plus, it’s one of the best towns to hang out in. Definitely a favorite
Visited on feb 27. It was an amazing experience. Road trip from Roseville to mammoth. Must visit once. Ticket price is high on peak season.
I would like to send my special gratitude towards ski patrol and ski instructor who made a call quickly after witnessing my fall under chair 3 area on 4/18/21 Sunday around 11 am. Many thanks for safely taking me down to Mill lodge. It turns out I broke my bone and would have been impossible to come down with ski patrol help. Thank you very much for your care and kindness!
Great mountain! I think it is the best for snowboarding in all of California. The lower mountain lift pass is really fantastic for beginners or just lazy, fat, and old people like me.
This review is purely for Julie the employee that helped me find my phone in this huge resort. Me and my friend had split up and I had no way of contacting him. Luckily Julie let me use her phone so I could pinpoint a rough location of where my phone might be. She rode the lift down with me and told me where I might find it, and sure enough we found it at main lodge. Thank you Julie for your help! You are the best!
Mammoth has it all, great runs, quality snow, party atmosphere with massive crowds. EVERYBODY and their brother knows and skis/rides Mammoth.
I've been here s few times to ski it was great it gets a little crazy sometimes but that's a good thing and in a good way.
Great slopes with good number of choices for ski/snowboarding.
Enjoyed the day with my son and friends
Only negative thing is for a basic lift ticket for the day, the slopes are all over the place.
Mammoth is an incredible mountain with diverse terrain. Everything from parking, lodges and lifts are extremely functional. As far as snow, this is a west coast mountain and it very often get dense/ wet snow. Not a bad thing at all just different than the fluffy snow in Colorado. Highly recommend a trip here for any snow sports.
Such a big ski resort. Do many fun runs. If you decide to go to the top. Pay attention to the signs. The runs ARE FOR EXPERTS ONLY. Do yourself a favor and don't do it if you are a beginner or intermediate.
First time skiing mammoth, and I have to say this it truly amazing. I barely got to go through the whole mountain. But I got a lot of it and definitely will be coming back and with more people without doubt. Great jumps and free funs.
On windy days, not as cold as June, unless you on Roadrunner. Heavy traffic on weekends. Parking is free, if you know where to look at, which can give access to lifts to the mountain; the walk depends on park finding luck. Careful, conditions can have black ice and make parking slightly more difficult. Overall, great mountain to visit all four seasons. Whether amateur or pro. Follow local recommendations regarding travel when offered.
