My mother is my Shero. I love her deeply, as best I can. I’m blessed to be her only child, and she and I are blessed by the ManorCare Team as we prepare for Glory. I’ve personally learned that the end of life is physically and emotionally painful. One moment is filled with hope, the next with heartache. It is beautiful, it is exhausting, it is orderly, and it is messy, it is inevitable. ManorCare has been with us every step of our journey. My mother’s physical safety and security has always been safeguarded. Her gowns are clean and so too are her undergarments. Her medication is administered. She always has food and I’ve received calls requesting my guidance, advising me of her status, even notifying me her wedding ring has been placed in a safe because she takes it off during moments of agitation. My mothers aides know my mother by name. They are caring and attentive. And they relay anecdotes to me, telling me when she’s had a good day, or when she’s been had a rough one. Is everything perfect? Of course not. End of life is anything but perfect. But everything is imperfectly perfect because we’re all trying our best. I am grateful to many at ManorCare, including the leadership, tbe receptionists that greet me, Elia, Daniella, Blessing, Ana, and many others who try their best. I am also grateful to their families because caring for others in times of rehabilation or end of life is not easy. As an only son who’s cared for both my father and mother, I’ve learned sometimes you can’t win for losing. But we do our best. And I thank ManorCare for giving my mother their best. In the midst of this chapter, we are blessed!

A simple thoughtful Thank You card received from a resident’s family. Thankful for the staff at Manorcare.
