Marines' Memorial Club & Hotel reviews
15 It was my first visit in San Francisco, and my partner and I stayed at this hotel a few weekends ago. The hotel is like a museum and I absolutely loved it, especially the library. However, there are two things I would like to point out:
1. I am not sure how often the ACs in the rooms get cleaned, but chunks of dust were coming out and falling on the side table while ours was on. (We stayed in Rm. 521) I did not have much of an issue but it would be safe to clean them occasionally for those guests who have asthma.
2. Double check the cleanliness of the plates/utensils/glass prior to setting them on the table. We had both dinner and breakfast at the on-site restaurant and noticed fingerprints and grease on them. The number of staff seemed shorthanded, but we loved the food and their service, though
Even though the hotel is located in the city, our time there was quiet and relaxing. We'll definitely visit again when we're back in the area.
The hotel is friendly and centrally located. The breakfast is okay, but the intrusive request to pay a tip is strange. Unfortunately there is no bread for breakfast.
However, the outlook was very disappointing. We were looking directly at a brick wall. This made the room extremely dark.
It would be really fair if the outlook were communicated in advance.
My stay was in a king room. It was very clean, well-kept, and comfortable. I was out most of the day and mainly used it for sleeping. Being an older building neighbors can be heard a bit during the day, but overall most people were sleeping so it was quiet. The entire hotel has a very traditional feel which compliments the purpose of this space. Every staff person from hotel to restaurant are extremely helpful, kind, and provided excellent customer service. They really care about Marines' Memorial Club & Hotel and restaurant. Location was great for transit and walking to Moscone Center, downtown activities, Fisherman's Wharf. I walked from the Powell Street Bart to the hotel and it was a fine walk.
The museum truly embodies the rich history of the US and equally celebrates the men and women who have honored the call to serve this nation with pride, honor and dignity.
I love how the lobby has all the memorabilia of the marines - from the uniform, to medals of honor.
The place is more than just a hotel; it’s a covenant of this country’s history and people who have made this country great.
I was here for a dinner event with friends and I appreciated the warm hospitality, the stunning views of the city and the serenity of the surrounding.
Great location, very clean and big rooms. Great value for the money Good breakfast served with nice city view. Awesome location with just 3 minutes walking to Union Square. Great room service and safe parking areas available [paid]. Highly recommended
Beautiful, slightly dated structure as it resembles a museum. Ventilation needs to be taken care of inside the structure
Everything was perfect but the obligatory tip on an included breakfast seemed very strange to me
More than a hotel, this is a place where the U. S.army officers are never forgotten. Their achievements are everywhere in the hall and all over the walls on every floor.
The hotel is 2 blocks from Union Square, close to Chinatown and Powell Station.
Breakfast has fruits, yogurts, eggs, bacon, potato, oat meal, orange juice, and sort of non gluten bakery.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is a safe in it and also a mini refrigerator that you can use to store your stuff. There is also a coffee machine with a few coffee capsules that I think they don't charge you. At least I haven't been charged. The shower is too low, so you must bend over to have a decent bath.
There is also a gym and a business center where you can access the internet through a computer.
It was a great trip. About the only time I was in the room was to sleep. The broken elevator was a small inconvenience, but manageable.
A very charming hotel.
Very well located and attended with great kindness.
In addition, from 4 to 6 in the afternoon there is an open bar in the hotel cafeteria.
Excellent location. Happy hour is such a great idea here.
Most of the staff very helpful and friendly.
Great up to date old style room. Great customer service and a full buffet style breakfast. Well worth the price.
My family and I had an amazing stay at Marines' Memorial. The rooms were comfortable and clean despite the hotel's age. There was also free buffet breakfast as well as happy hour everyday. There was free self-service laundry facility as well; you can even get the detergent from the front desk! The location was excellent: well connected to most touristy spots, while still pretty safe and not that sketchy. The historic decor was an added bonus! Overall, I would highly recommend Marines' Memorial to anyone, and would definitely book again if I have another chance to visit SF!
Nice hotel, friendly helpful staff. Well located to reach everything on foot but also to use public transport. The breakfast was totally fine.
The MMH welcomes all members and vets of the armed services, as well as everyone else. The theme honors the brave men and women who have served this country and the Association gives back to vets and their families all the time. It is a phonemonal Bay Area institution that should be preserved at all costs!
They also run a great hotel, phonomenal restaurant/bar with a view, have a wonderful library, museum, & memorial, and are a great place to host a conference. You won't regret your stay!
