A perfect experience if you like old boats. They offer excellent and informative exhibits and the staff are very knowledgeable. I didn't take any of the guided tours, so I can speak to those. But overall, I was there for about 2 hours and saw everything I wanted to see.

The Maritime Museum is a San Diego must see. It is a fabulous collection of ships, including the Star of India, and each ship is itself a small museum. With or without kids, it is immersive, educational, and entertaining.

We spent about a $100 on a guuded tour but we late and missed most of it, so wanted to stay a bit after the tour. Not only was i told that i have to buy full price admission tickets but wasn't even allowed to go meet the rest of my family that was in the museum. Most shockinly, their security grabbed and pushed me when I was their steep stairs trying to go down to look for my family. No management available as i was told by ticketinf stuff who said they grab and push customers that don't cooperste.none of thy management has their contact info listed anywhere. Museum is nothing special - we are locals and have memverships to most museums but not this one for that reason.it's definitly the worst " customer service" i have seen, ever.grabbing and pushing paying customers is something new.btw, their own website states that guided tours include admission.

Very cool and interesting museum for you to learn about the history of ships! Inside the “main ship” there are several ship models and a lot of history about them. Tickets cost $20 and I thought it was worth it. On the same day, you can come and go as many times as you want (if applicable) until the museum closes. In addition to being able to enter several ships, you have the opportunity to enter a (real) deactivated submarine. It's quite interesting.
You don't need to buy tickets in advance (no queues) and there is public parking in the area and it's super affordable (around $2.50/2h if I'm not mistaken).

Please note that they are a CASHLESS (cashless) establishment, payment only by card.

The tour was super cool! It costs 20 USD per adult, you can visit several boats, including a submarine. Lots of history and information about the vessels, visits to replicas of old sailing ships, a submarine that you can enter, an original steam ferry. It's very interesting, especially for those who like sailing and understand or are interested in navigation.

Absolutely fantastic museum and very helpful staff, the young lady at reception helped me get an uber ride to Balboa Gardens, she really went the extra mile.

Awesome experience! How lucky are we to be able to take a look at the past and present ships that have traveled our oceans. The staff take such good care of the upkeep of the and submarine

Fantastic tour through history, just fascinating! Highly recommend it. The submarine was so interesting, how do that many men live in such a small space! Love the ferry, get on board and see the steam engine working! Listen for the snapping shrimp, so unbelievable you can actually hear them through the steel hull! The sailing ships are fascinating, so much to learn. Life aboard was so hard, work work work, beer and biscuit and a k to work! History is so relavent today. Folks in those times were so much tougher than folks today. We need to toughen up as our lives are so easy compared to their lives. Even our worst day was probable better than their best day! A lot to be thankful for.

This is a really fun experience. Lots to see and take in. Enjoy the ships amd submarine as is or dig in more and learn the history behind them as well. We are a family of 5 amd we all really enjoyed it. Wear the proper footwear, you will be having to climb up and down some stairs.

We went on the Pilot tour and we had the pleasure of having Kiki as our tour guide. She was so awesome! Very knowledgable and a great sense of humor! Our captain was great too! Thank you for the tour!

Excellent museum of old vessels such as sailboats and caravels, they are well maintained and their decks decorated according to the period, unfortunately there is a caravel anchored to the side of the Espírit de India sailboat, in a very poor state of conservation, the woods of its hull are moth-eaten and its paint completely peeling off.

There is so much to see and appreciate here. You have to visit. Sarah and Chet and their team of hosts and docents are fun, expert, and caring. Love this place!
