Martin Luther King Jr Promenade reviews
8This is one of those slightly hidden gems in San Diego, CA that you stumble upon and become flooded with those emotions you felt the first time you fell in love with this city all over again.
First off his real name is Michael King and 90% of what he wrote and or said was Plagiarized from other civil right leaders. I think they should change it to Malcolm x promenade And replace the words with his. They can install a bathroom and name that Martin Luther king But that's just my opinion.
It's a wonderfully designed walkway (lit at night) dedicated to a brilliant person who "paved" the future for so many people of ALL colors, to a brighter future. Every ten to fifteen feet there are passages from his many speeches that are timeless in their meanings and are valid in their composition. Although his "dream" hasn't fully come to fruition, its message will be engraved in the hearts of all who take the time to enjoy this walkway and ponder the quotes.
Great memorial, right along an exciting and thrilling area. You have the convention center, adjacent and across the street. Also easily accessible to the Green line trolley that routes as far as Santee. Encapsulating transportation connections to Old Town, Mission Valley, Fashion Valley, El Cajon and other close townships within San Diego. The famed Petco Park, where the San Diego Padres plays is just a couple of blocks away. The infamous 'Gaslamp District is just a stone's throw away. Easy connection to the Orange line and Blue trolleys (Access south to the Mexico border and La Jolla to the north) are nearby.
Really nice area, very safe. A few homeless people but none bothered us or felt threatening.
I walk on this promenade in the mornings. Reverend Martin's words are inspiring. I have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
Martin Luther King said this once a long time ago. Don't judge a man by the color of his skin. Judge him for the content of his character.
