Master HA Korean Restaurant reviews
12Some most overpriced meal. The shrimps were pretty good and the soup were also ok. Service were good and good vibe. The problem was the famous marinated crab. For the price, there were only one female crab with roe (which should play a very important role in marinated crab) which was much smaller then the other 2 males ones (pretty small also). And they were not tasted that good. Such a disappointment.
We waited two hours for dinner thinking it was worth the hype. My entire Korean family who loves soy marinated crab didn’t love it tho. It was unexpected and strange because so many people and reviews say it’s the best. The food is definitely fresh and well prepared, but the flavor and texture was different to what we expected and not mind blowing. It could be our personal preferences. But for our experience considering wait time price and taste it’s a three start experience as we wouldn’t do it again.
TLDR: Crabs are meaty and sweet, service is wack.
Parking: Street
Waitlist: In-person only
3/5 overall, food was good but service was really lacking. Don't waste your time coming on the weekend.
Street parking. Arrived early and wrote our names down on the paper waitlist taped to the door. Although we arrived before open we were 8th on the list.
We waited outside by the door, and a staff member called names. Make sure to write your name clearly/legibly, because they had a very difficult time reading names. We were seated in about 10 minutes, but it was unclear how to order and who was our server. Once seated we were served water/corn husk tea. Weirdly there were many little flies/gnats that came around and even landed in my water glass more than once (I just gave up when the second one landed).
We needed to ask some questions regarding the menu (there are no detailed descriptions), so here's the summary.
1. What is the difference between the premium and large marinated crab? Premium is 5 crabs while large is 3.2. What is the difference between the uni bowl combo and live uni? And premium vs reg? Both are served with rice, but live is served in the shell. Premium is "better quality" uni.
So after that you mark what you'd like on the slip of paper and wait for someone to pick it up. This all took about 15 more minutes. After we "placed our order" we were served 3 side dishes-cabbage, radish and perilla leaf kimchi.
Thus far service was a disorganized at best and we were really unsure what to expect.
In the end we were not served our food after an hour of waiting. During the time we were waiting, tables around us (many of whom were seated after us) were served their food. However none of the staff checked on us or seemed to think it was unusual that we were sitting at the empty table for over an hour.
We got up and went to the counter (people were literally paying and leaving that ordered after us!), and told the manager they forgot our order. A staff member came to our table, made excuses that the delay was due to the rush of people being seated- not because they forgot out order, and we basically ordered a second time and our food was served in less than 20 minutes.
This should obviously be unacceptable service. We expressed our severe dissatisfaction, and the manager apologized and comped half the meal.
Excellent taste, great service, and newly designed cozy interior!
Everything's perfect. I strongly recommend master Ha Restaurant.
The crabs are marinated well, it comes with a bowl of rice and some kimchi. The worst part is service…. Maybe hire someone not always in a rush…
Incredibly delicious from the crab to the beef. Incredible flavors all throughout and different from anything else we’ve had in Ktown. A must-visit.
Be careful how they charge for tips. They tip off the total, not the subtotal, so I ended up paying 30% tip without consent
We tried this place for the first time and it was incredible! We got the salmon, shrimp and marinated crab rice bowl. I cant wait to go here again and try some other stuff.
My family has been eating here for years and I can honestly say that Master HA truly lives up to its name. Made using high quality ingredients, every food item is a true piece of art. The restaurant was closed during COVID and we missed it so much - we are so glad to have the ability to enjoy their food again now that it has reopened!
I just love it in everything, the dynamic inside when people just keep filling the space. Cute decorating, nice servers, delicious dishes. I will come back for sure eventhough i live down in OC
4/6/23: very good Korean seafood specialist, had the raw crab and uni rice dishes before for delivery and enjoyed them a lot
Just called number listed to check if they're done renovating, was looking to go this Sat for dinner w/ friends. Guy on the phone said, not yet, but next week is soft opening. Although he suggested to call ahead first still if you are going.
I often take my friends to this place with my warmest recommendations. I go their often. This recommendation is always successful. The the food there is great and the team is generous and cooperative.always when we eat in this place we enjoy a pleasant time.highly recommended.
