Mastro's Ocean Club, Newport Beach CA

I wholeheartedly recommend this place for a social dinner; the food and service went above and beyond my expectations. I'm definitely planning to come back soon.

My family and I had dinner there on January 6,2024. One of the special was Chilean Seabass with scallops Which my daughter and I both ordered.one granddaughter ordered surf and turf. That was excellent and a ribeye steak that was excellent. But when my daughter and I received ours, The Chilean Seabass was a large square fish stick with Panko crumbs. I wanted to send it back immediately, but I didn’t want to do this in front of my granddaughters because we were celebrating. My daughter and I took a couple bites of it and I took it home for the dog. Why would you ever serve something like that. The price was so Expensive for the quality that we got. I would actually like a refund for the two dinners. We spent almost $600 that night. I expected real fish, not a fish stick.

Celebrated my special ones birthday and was blown away by the service. Special thank you to our host, Shin, who responded to all our requests and even went beyond his duties to take photos and suggest spots to see the sunset. Thank you Mastros for making a very special celebration and will be back for years to come:)

At this price point, I had high expectations. I was disappointed all the way through. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time. The place was painfully loud. The clam chowder was awful (starchy and salty). The service was slow. The staff was obviously concerned only with their regulars. Our main dishes came 25 minutes after the first, and we had to wait another 20 minutes just to get the bill.
I followed the link provided in the business response to my original post. To add insult to injury, the link sent my on a wild chase not a survey!

This place is elegant and has a great atmosphere with live music a pianist, views of the Pacific Ocean, and a nice bar with a great selection. We sat in the outdoor garden you feel the great California weather we enjoy the evening as the sun clocked out. Shout out to Travis for the great service and explaining to us the menu and also to The Great Staff who brought us water making sure we weren’t dry and cleaned our tables they where on top of it.

Now the Food 22oz Porto House Steak medium well tender meat with a nice taste of the char on the outside smokiness flavor $73.
Mac N Cheese well seasoned pasta cooked to perfection perfect amount of cheese broil on top $15.
Spicy Salad comes with Parmesan Cheese and Atomic Horse Radishdifferent but good nose opener $14.
Shrimp Cocktail jumbo size 4 piece cool for Instagram comes with Atomic Horse Radish, cocktail sauce, and lemon perfectly cooked shrimp and chilled to perfection but nothing out of this world just simple $30.
Mastro’s Bread Basket 4 Types of breads with the company of butter my favorite was the pretzel bread sprinkle with sea salt give it a nice texture $5

I spend more then $500.00 I reserved 2 weeks before, and they put my husband’s birthday on next to the bar. They should not allow people drinking in front of us. We pay exactly the same amount of others, with a literally, wonderful view. I didn’t have the view. They still charge you if you are next to the bathroom.

Makes no sense me and girlfriend went for birthday dinner spent over 300 didn’t really touch the food till we got home and they threw away half my steak no mashed potatoes and they weren’t even touched Mac and cheese was half way thrown away for food I spent over 300 just for most of it to be thrown away

This is a great restaurant. I've been coming here for years and love that it's a reliably good place to take friends and family for special occasions. The food is always excellent. It would be nice to see a little more risk taking with the menu items. I think that would set this restaurant apart from the other vanilla choices that seem to be all we're privy to in Orange County.

On 9-3-2023@ 4: 30pm We Did Not have a good time for our 14th wedding anniversary at this place we had a really bad experience. 1. The waitress set us were we could only see the parking lot. Really yes she did! 2. No nice ocean view and the waitress didnt tell us the prices like I over heard the guy waiter tell the other customers. 3. So when we got the bill were surprised at the 2 appetizers price crab cakes & shrimp it was not worth it! 4. Also the whole half side of the butter cake was Burned! I felt Very sick after eating here and went to the restroom. 5. On the walk back to my table in the back away from everyone I couldn't believe what I seen, the place had ocean views but we made reservations only to look at the valet parking. This place is way over rated and the food made me sick. My husband and I have experienced delicious food and serves at Red Lobster, Market Broiler and on the Royal Carribean Cruise! We Will never come here again and will Not recommend it to No one! Especially none of my Realtor associates, clients & friends! At the Spaghettini Restaurant had an way better experience & they exceeds you guys by Far! I wish I would have went to Spaghettini to celebrate our 14th Wedding Anniversary like we did with our friends for their anniversary! We know would have had fantastic time there instead we didn't have a good time at Mastro's. Dont waste your time at this place.

Very impressed with the service and steak here - the 22 Oz Bone In Ribeye was cooked perfectly black and blue and had an incredible flavor! There's a beautiful crust and the meat is just fabulous, one of the best steaks I've had anywhere. The seafood appetizer platter was impressive and the sides were good, but honestly just need the steak! The whole wheat bread and salted butter were also incredible, can't wait to come back, cheers!

Location, taste, and all the staff are great.
The service of the rest room staff is excellent.
I think this is a service that doesn't exist in Japan.

Amazing service and food! The GM personally visited our table and ensured we were taken care of. Phenomenal experience!

Very patient and attentive staff. Travis was great and helped our group with 4 toddlers/babies feel welcome and we enjoyed our food with more time spent at the table than I could have asked for. We also had the best seats in the restaurant.

I went to celebrate my wedding anniversary this Sunday at Mastro's in Newport Beach, tht between me and my husband. A female Waitress came to serve us, she came to my table all the time and was very friendly, then she always came back worried if my husband was happy with everything, at that moment I started to find her service exaggerated, then she came to bring dessert and she simply rested her arms on my table and stood in front of my husband and started talking to him about random subjects, and my Husband kept the conversation with her, but she didn't stop talking and when I realized it had already passed 20 minutes she was still talking to him about random things my husband, ignoring me as if I wasn't there, it was the worst feeling I ever felt, I was irritated and embarrassed, the waitress didn't answer another one, she stayed there for 20 min there with her arms on the table talking nonstop, and asking questions about where we lived, and talked about her personal life putting me in an awkward situation with my husband. This had a good result. I fought with my husband for allowing her to remain there for so long and prolonging the matter with her, I thought it was a lack of respect for me, we haven't talked to each other for 1 day and we're still fighting. This girl managed to ruin my dinner, I think you should better guide your employees to be respectful

This is such a beautiful restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere and the food was absolutely incredible! Best seared ahi tuna and lobster bisque ever!

The service at this restaurant was far beyond my expectations. The waitstaff is so attentive down to the smallest details, we were never left needing or wanting anything. Our server Emmy was amazing! Restaurant has a beautiful view (certain tables) that are great for Sunset dining. Food was delicious. Will absolutely be back.
